Academics
Brigham Young Universityâs Marriott School of Business (formerly Marriott School of Management) gives its MBA students âfantastic, applicable instructionâ taught by âworld-class,â âsupportive,â faculty who offer a âcase-based approachâ in the classroom, âsimulating real business discussions about real business challenges.â BYUâs âLearn-Do-Becomeâ programs offer students direct opportunities to work with potential future employers, âranging from consulting for some of the largest companies in the world, to investing real money into the private spaceâ through venture capital and private equity firms. The Rollins Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology offers a number of competitions, including the Miller Competition Series, where students have the âopportunity to grow a business from the ideation stage and win funding, office space, and mentorship without an incubator or VC taking a cut.â Other learn-do-become programs include the Cougar Strategy Group, a âstudent-administered, in-house strategy consulting firm that helps students learn a clear set of valuable models and toolsâ and Cougar Capital, a â$4M student-run venture capital fund.â Outside of entrepreneurship and VC, other âtop-ratedâ programming includes the Human Resources program and the joint MS/MBA program through BYUâs Department of Mechanical Engineering. The âstrongâ and âprogressiveâ administration âtake feedback well,â even allowing a âstudent-led internal consulting teamâŠcome in and make needed changes to the program and curriculum.â
