The Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland offers both Part-Time and Full-Time MBA programs with a focus on design and sustainability, putting it “at the leading edge of a shift in business thinking.” In the first year, the LEAD curriculum helps students to realize their management strengths and weaknesses through experiential learning, case studies, and self-assessments; the integrative core curriculum teaches the basics of business principles; and the school’s design and sustainability focus come into play through two required first-year courses. The first year is spent entirely with one’s cohort, “allowing for interaction and a friendly atmosphere,” and the coursework offered is “innovative and taught by the best professors in the field.” The second year is dedicated to electives and the project-based, hands-on learning of Business Models I and II. One of the main appeals of the program is the access to thought leaders in “design, positive organization development, and sustainable business advantage,” as well as “exceptional teachers of more traditional business disciplines” who collectively help students “see how they can use traditional business skills to develop profitable for organizations that serves a deeper purpose in enhancing the lives of individuals.”

Weatherhead professors are very helpful and dedicate time to students outside class “for discussions, extracurricular projects and coursework-related doubts,” and as the professors are often the authors of the textbooks being used, students “learn more than what is taught through the books.” Students also cite the campus’ “amazing infrastructure” as a key to their studies, which includes “study rooms, lounges, gym, pool, athlete center, libraries, medical center, IT support and a bar.” Students have the “ease of access to all departments under Case Western” and are free to use all the university’s libraries and facilities as well as licensed software resources, and there are ample places around campus to unwind for the day “which makes it a good blend for academic, professional and social life.”
