At Adelphi University, 鈥渟tudents are encouraged to grow both academically and personally.鈥� Thanks to 鈥渟mall class sizes,鈥� students say, 鈥測ou really get a feel for your professor and aren鈥檛 just another number in a huge lecture hall.鈥� Many also highlight the school鈥檚 鈥渟trong nursing program,鈥� which is 鈥渧ery inclusive and accommodating,鈥� and offers opportunities like 鈥渃linical lab simulations.鈥� Other majors also praise how 鈥渢echnology is integrated into a lot of courses.鈥� One notes how access to virtual reality lets them 鈥渆xplore everything from ancient cities to chemistry labs,鈥� while another brings up an 鈥渋nnovative鈥� class where 鈥渢he vast majority of鈥�time was spent learning to fly and recording videos using the drones.鈥� Despite these exciting tools, a handful of students do complain that some professors 鈥渟imply lecture the whole time.鈥� However, undergrads in the Honors College emphasize that their seminar courses tend to 鈥減rioritize class discussion above all.鈥� Outside of the classroom, 鈥渢here are great opportunities for hands-on learning through internships and research programs.鈥� There鈥檚 also 鈥渁 tremendous amount of support [available] for students,鈥� with many applauding 鈥渢he C.A.S.E. tutoring center鈥� specifically. When it comes down to it, Adelphi delivers 鈥渟trong academic programs [with] professors [that] genuinely want you to succeed.鈥�

Students suggest that Adelphi鈥檚 the place where 鈥渆verybody has a smile and is always kind,鈥� not to mention 鈥渟upportive鈥�smart and ambitious.鈥� As one student details, 鈥淓veryone looks out for each other, whether it is sharing notes, preparing for exams together, or talking through career goals and personal challenges. What makes our student body unique is that the support is never competitive; it is truly communal.鈥� Additionally, undergrads note that while many classmates are 鈥渇rom the surrounding Long Island and New York City areas,鈥� you鈥檒l also find 鈥渟tudents from across the country and abroad.鈥� This 鈥渨ide range of backgrounds, interests, and life experiences鈥�creates a campus environment that feels both diverse and very community-oriented.鈥� Students also value the fact that their 鈥減eers are not only academically driven but鈥�deeply engaged in pursuits beyond the classroom鈥攚hether that鈥檚 athletics, arts, activism, or entrepreneurship.鈥� Plus, the school鈥檚 relatively small size means that 鈥減eople recognize one another quickly, classmates become familiar faces across departments, and conversations started in a seminar often continue in the library, the science building, or over coffee.鈥� As this student concludes, 鈥淚 have met so many new people who I love from Adelphi and believe it is truly a school where there is something for everyone.鈥�

Adelphi has many commuter students, and some admit that it can feel like 鈥渢hose who commute tend to have a lesser social life on campus.鈥� Nevertheless, the university is often buzzing with activities that everyone can enjoy. There are plenty of 鈥渙ne-off events鈥�like goat yoga and formal etiquette class. It鈥檚 very exciting trying something new, especially for free.鈥� Students also look forward to campus traditions like 鈥淔all Carnival during Spirit Weekend, Casino Night, Panther Madness (our version of homecoming), and the winter lighting鈥� along with 鈥渄aily fun things like trivia nights, movie nights [and]...lots of performances.鈥� Many also note that 鈥渁thletics are big,鈥� since 鈥淎delphi fields numerous NCAA Division II teams.鈥� Undergrads can find groups for nearly any interest. One student makes time for 鈥渇iber arts club, artivism club, students with disabilities club, [and] dungeons and dragons club.鈥� And if you鈥檙e one of those who prioritize academics, you鈥檙e not alone: 鈥淥ne of my favorite extracurricular activities is participating in a work-study group with my classmates.鈥� Undergrads appreciate being 鈥渏ust a train ride from Manhattan, giving students immediate access to internships, cultural events, and industry connections鈥� while living on 鈥渁 close-knit, suburban鈥� campus. Overall, students find the school鈥檚 activities to be a good way to 鈥渆xplore new interests, collaborate with diverse peers, and add a fun, purposeful rhythm to student life.鈥�
