Agnes Scott College is a liberal arts college dedicated to fostering a 鈥渟upportive community of strong women working to create change in the world.鈥� The school鈥檚 unique SUMMIT curriculum offers an individualized course of study, immersion, and experiences under the guidance of a personal advisor. The program is designed 鈥渢o engage [students] in the social challenges of our times while providing context for a variety of viewpoints, whether that is various global, religious, or political perspectives.鈥� Throughout their time here, all students participate in co-curricular development activities, such as Peak Week, a period in the spring where students take part in events like Global Journeys (faculty-led trips), career experiences, and SCALE, where second-years collaborate with Atlanta businesses and nonprofits. One student highlights the autonomy of the curriculum as a major reason for choosing Agnes Scott: 鈥淚 have the power to create the program. That is a wonderful opportunity,鈥� adding, 鈥淚 [will] leave an impact on my college.鈥� The academics here are 鈥渞igorous but rewarding,鈥� and 鈥渟tudents are expected to work hard outside of the classroom so that class time can be spent valuably.鈥� To this end, professors 鈥渃reate thoughtful syllabi鈥� and 鈥渃lasses are interactive and engaging because [professors] are open to different teaching styles and making sure all students can bring their own perspective into the discussion.鈥� The administration 鈥渞eally tries to get the student鈥檚 perspective on all aspects of campus life鈥� and is 鈥渋nclusive and open to addressing problems within the student body.鈥� The college 鈥減repares its students to face the world head-on,鈥� providing valuable leadership opportunities and 鈥渃reating a living-and-learning community鈥�[while] preparing women to be a part of the global community.鈥�

Agnes Scott 鈥渋s an incredibly diverse campus of students,鈥� representing a wide range of backgrounds and viewpoints. Students value the 鈥渋nclusivity created by the campus community,鈥� which actively 鈥渨elcomes students of all identities鈥� and encourages students to be 鈥渋nquisitive and forward-thinking,鈥� ensuring that 鈥渢here is never a Scottie that is alone here.鈥� The school is described as having 鈥渂oth a competitive and loving environment. Every student is so understanding and willing to cooperate with everyone else.鈥� For instance, 鈥淚t is very easy to form study groups or collaborate with others on projects.鈥� Within this supportive student body, 鈥渆veryone finds their group and niche on campus.鈥�

鈥淭he campus is absolutely beautiful,鈥� and 鈥渢he energy and vibe here is unique. We get the experience of a large city but have the community of a close-knit town.鈥� Admittedly, 鈥渢here isn鈥檛 much free time because students鈥�tend to have work study, jobs, hard classes, volunteer, extracurricular, and internships to keep them busy all week.鈥� Fortunately, the 鈥渟tudent-led Programing Board offers weekly events,鈥� and there are 鈥渃onstantly events on campus put on by student clubs.鈥� One very popular event is Pancake Jam, where the night before exams, 鈥渇aculty and staff serve us breakfast food so students can sing, dance, and destress.鈥� When students want a break from campus, they can 鈥渉ang out in downtown Decatur since it is a quick walk from campus,鈥� and it鈥檚 a 鈥渃ute and a safe little town.鈥� Additionally, 鈥渢he MARTA subway system is a five-minute walk, so you can [visit] almost anywhere in Atlanta.鈥� Students enjoy Atlanta鈥檚 鈥渧ibrant culture鈥�by eating at restaurants, visiting museums, attending music events, and visiting art galleries.鈥� Closer to home, the campus features numerous hammocks for students, so when the weather is nice, it鈥檚 common to 鈥渟ee us hanging out in between classes鈥� or enjoying a good book in them.

The Office of Internship and Career Development prepares students for a lifetime of success, providing major-to-career roadmaps, career coaches, skill-building workshops, career panels, and recruitment events. More than 400 Agnes Scott alumni participate in the school鈥檚 Summit Career Connect program which offers options like job shadowing and networking. There are 鈥渇antastic internship opportunities鈥� available due to the proximity to Atlanta, and professors are supportive of all student career goals and 鈥減ush you to go after internships, clubs, leadership positions, and jobs.鈥� As part of a longstanding tradition, senior class members ring the campus bell and sign their names in the bell tower when they receive a job offer or acceptance into graduate school. PayScale.com reports that Agnes Scott alumni earn a median starting salary of $56,700, and 62 percent say that they derive a high level of meaning from their jobs.
