Curiosity, faith, and learning are cornerstones of an Assumption University education, which 鈥渉elps foster well-rounded, creative, intelligent and caring young adults to be successful and morally sound in their future endeavors.鈥� The Catholic school鈥檚 curriculum begins with the Foundations Program, a 13-course program that encourages self-exploration and introspection to help students discover who they want to become; this is achieved through 鈥渟ervice, meaningful discussions, and liberal arts classes.鈥� Assumption is a 鈥渧ery welcoming and inclusive institution鈥� that focuses both on education and 鈥渃ore values.鈥� Experiential learning is emphasized, with the idea that students 鈥渞eceive a greater impact鈥� through the application of skills via service learning, study abroad (the school has a campus in Rome), and internships; campus jobs represent another avenue for experience and are said to be 鈥渁bundant.鈥� Within the classroom, the 鈥渂eyond helpful鈥� professors are engaging and approachable, 鈥渨illing to talk to you whenever you need it and [caring] about your wellbeing.鈥� Their 鈥渄iversity of teaching styles,鈥� complemented by a variety of backgrounds, allows them to 鈥渂ring their personal experiences into the classroom鈥� and make classes 鈥渋nteresting and enjoyable.鈥� Students take note of these efforts: 鈥渢he professors here at Assumption all love what they do, and it is obvious in the classroom.鈥� This level of support extends to all arms of the university, including the Academic Support Center (which provides tutoring) and the Career Development and Internship Center. As far as students are concerned, this level of care and support is 鈥渢ruly a blessing.鈥�

Hound Nation 鈥渋s like no other鈥� in terms of community and manners, and everyone is 鈥渃ourteous and [will] hold doors open or lend you a calculator in class if your forgot yours.鈥� According to their peers, students tend to be 鈥済enerally middle-class Caucasians [who] are heterosexual鈥� and the school has 鈥渁 very conservative feel.鈥� While the school itself is described as 鈥渧ery Catholic,鈥� students qualify this as meaning that most undergraduates 鈥渃ome from Catholic upbringings or have attended Catholic school but are not necessarily religious.鈥� The biggest separation between students seems to be whether they鈥檙e athletes or not, but even in this case, everyone remains 鈥済enerally happy鈥� and 鈥渧ery sociable and approachable,鈥� with no airs put on. In short, people here 鈥済enuinely care about each other and it makes for a wonderful experience.鈥�

Students love their 鈥渂eautiful, diverse, and secured campus,鈥� and most attendees choose to remain on their picture-perfect campus thanks to a four-year housing guarantee. Assumption has 鈥渁 tight-knit, faith-based community where everyone is part of a family鈥� and students feel that 鈥渢here is a great sense of belonging鈥� that makes it 鈥渆asy to meet new people,鈥� especially for those who are 鈥渧ery invested in academics, sports, extracurriculars, and social experiences.鈥� The town of Worcester, Massachusetts, is a New England college hub, so there is 鈥渁lways something to do if you want to get off campus鈥� or want to socially mix with students at other nearby schools. This may actually be too true in some cases where students note that as the Thursday weekend rolls around, the on-campus scene gets quiet, with many of the older students heading off-campus, because Assumption is 鈥渟trict as far as drinking goes.鈥� That said, students describe local activities 鈥渓ike Bingo Nights, movie nights, trivia, [and] Family Feud鈥� as being 鈥渞eally fun.鈥�
