Boston College is a small private Jesuit college that has long been delivering a 鈥減restigious鈥� liberal arts education with a holistic focus on sending 鈥渨ell-rounded鈥� individuals out into the world. That goal is furthered by a strong core curriculum spread across a variety of disciplines and 鈥減henomenal professors鈥� who work to make sure each individual has a 鈥済reat experience academically.鈥� One student vouches for the faculty: 鈥淏oston College鈥檚 professors are truly exceptional and are devoted to undergraduate learning.鈥� Even outside of the classroom, a student-to-faculty ratio of 10:1 provides plenty of face time, and students find that professors are 鈥渆asily accessible outside of classes鈥� and 鈥渆ngaging, challenging, and understanding, [and] are genuinely interested in the student as a whole person.鈥� Post-graduation, BCers say that their 鈥渨ell-connected鈥� teachers are happy to help with the job search, which is buoyed by a strong network of more than 200,000 alumni. Though the entire experience comes with 鈥渉igh expectations,鈥� students find that the support and knowledge are easily found on the BC journey, and they 鈥渇eel prepared for whatever is next鈥� after graduation. 鈥淚 have always revered Boston College鈥檚 academic and athletic reputation, and coming here, I have not been disappointed,鈥� says a student.

Each year, Boston College 鈥渂ecomes more and more diverse,鈥� moving away from its old nickname as 鈥淛. Crew U鈥� to a present where one-third of students now identify as AHANA (African, Hispanic, Asian and Native American descent). The school鈥檚 Jesuit affiliation continues to bring in 鈥渁 large religious/spiritual community,鈥� but 鈥渋t is only one group of many鈥� among the greater pool of 鈥渞eally ambitious鈥� and 鈥渉ardworking鈥� BC students. 鈥淭he majority of students seem intelligent and academically driven as well as dedicated to and passionate about one or more extracurricular activities,鈥� and indeed the plethora of sports teams and extracurriculars makes it easy to mingle from the get-go. As one student puts it, 鈥渙nce you鈥檝e settled in, you鈥檒l find that it鈥檚 not at all difficult to find a group of friends.鈥� It helps, of course, to share a similar 鈥渨ork hard, play hard mentality鈥� among this 鈥渁cademically oriented bunch,鈥� but ultimately, everyone 鈥渄efinitely [has] school as a top priority. They just also happen to be 鈥渋nto having a good time鈥� and making the most of their college experience and location.

Located on the outskirts of Boston in a 鈥減erfect鈥� suburban location, BC鈥檚 鈥済orgeous campus鈥� is the home to 31 鈥渋ncredible [Division I] sports teams鈥� and more than 40 intramural teams. Accordingly, there are 鈥渟uperfans at every event鈥� and in general 鈥渏ust so much school spirit and love for the university!鈥� Boston College offers a 鈥減lethora of extracurricular activities鈥濃�攎ore than 300 student organizations, as a matter of fact鈥攁nd students believe that 鈥渢here鈥檚 a club or group for everyone here.鈥� Students can easily head to Downtown Boston to partake in concerts, museums, and other cultural activities, but they seem equally as content to return to their 鈥渃lose-knit college鈥� where they 鈥渇eel very at home.鈥� That said, the school鈥檚 Jesuit mission of faith and service means that 鈥渢here is also a large service component鈥� that supplements the college鈥檚 academics, and students often 鈥渟erve the community in Boston and communities all around the world.鈥� Ultimately, students laud the 鈥済reat facilities鈥� and 鈥渟tate-of-the-art resources鈥� provided to them at every turn.

The typical Boston College graduate has a median starting salary of $59,200, and 42 percent of graduates feel their jobs make the world a better place. Students feel that Boston College has 鈥渁n excellent career center,鈥� both for current students and alumni, and a 鈥済reat alumni network.鈥� In particular, the alumni network is 鈥渧ery supportive and strong...They really try to help students find internships and jobs.鈥� Some students feel that the career center is 鈥渞eally good for students in the business school, but it could be better in helping students in the humanities find internships.鈥�
