A small liberal arts school, The College of Idaho is 鈥渓ike a diamond in the rough.鈥� Students tell us, 鈥淵ou鈥檇 be surprised at the very high quality this little school offers!鈥� The small class sizes and low student-to-teacher ratio promote the school鈥檚 emphasis on 鈥渋ndividual learning鈥� and a 鈥減ersonalized education plan.鈥� The academic experience at The College of Idaho is 鈥渋ncredibly rigorous but also very rewarding.鈥� Though the school has a 鈥渨ell-developed鈥� liberal arts core, students also describe the biology and premed programs as 鈥渇antastic.鈥� Courses are 鈥渃hallenging,鈥� 鈥渇ascinating,鈥� and 鈥済reat preparation for both graduate school and the professional world.鈥� The small school environment provides a 鈥渟ense of community鈥� and allows students to develop 鈥渟trong working relationships鈥� with their professors. Students tell us their professors are 鈥渁ttentive,鈥� 鈥渧ery accessible,鈥� and 鈥減assionate about what they teach.鈥� One graduating senior described the school as 鈥渁n academic gold mine of some of the most published and highly regarded professors and researchers in the field.鈥� The 鈥減ersonal teaching鈥� approach the professors at The College of Idaho take makes them 鈥渃onsistently recognized nationally and internationally for their contributions to the academic community and to their students.鈥� The administration is 鈥渋nvolved with the students鈥� and 鈥渆ffective鈥� though 鈥渢he professors are what make The College of Idaho great.鈥� Also great is the fact that the school is 鈥渃ost competitive鈥� and offers 鈥済enerous scholarships.鈥� As one freshman tells us, 鈥淢y school is way more than a place for me to learn. My teachers have become more like guardians for my education, and my peers...my second family.鈥�

Students tell us, The College of Idaho has 鈥渟tudents from many walks of life鈥� and a 鈥渟tudent body full of individuals.鈥� While a majority of the student body is 鈥渨hite, middle-class, and right out of high school,鈥� students at The College of Idaho promote an 鈥渁tmosphere of learning from others no matter their background.鈥� Many students tell us that there really isn鈥檛 a 鈥渢ypical student,鈥� which isn鈥檛 so surprising given its large international student population. Each student at The College of Idaho is 鈥渁n active participant in the campus community.鈥� One junior tells us students are, 鈥渙verly involved鈥� and 鈥渆xtremely busy with clubs, campus activities, athletics, and academics.鈥� Students are 鈥渉ardworking but social,鈥� 鈥渋ntelligent,鈥� and 鈥渨ell-rounded.鈥� According to one sophomore, 鈥渢hough [we are all] different, the commonality of going to C of I brings us together.鈥�

Life in Caldwell can be 鈥減retty quiet鈥� but Boise, the capital, is only about a thirty-minute drive away, and the school regularly hosts trips into the city. However, the campus 鈥渟trives鈥� and 鈥渕ostly succeeds鈥� in making up for the town by sponsoring many activities on campus. A student tells us, 鈥淥n campus there is always something going on...I rarely have a night where there isn鈥檛 something that I could do for fun.鈥� The College of Idaho offers a variety of extracurricular activities. The school鈥檚 Program Council 鈥減uts on great events all year long.鈥� Such events as movie and bowling nights are open to all students and are often offered free of charge. Students at The College of Idaho also tend to be very interested in clubs and club-sponsored events. With a multitude of clubs to join, there is a club 鈥渇or all personality types.鈥� One student tells us, 鈥淲hether it is attending a theater or band concert, an athletic event, or a club meeting, there are plenty of ways to get involved.鈥� Students describe their school life as 鈥済reat overall,鈥� and because the school is so small, 鈥渁ny major campus-sponsored activity brings us all together as one, giant, friendly social club.鈥�
