Thanks to Drexel University鈥檚 combination of a quarterly schedule and a built-in cooperative education plan, West Philadelphia is the place to be for 鈥渟elf-motivated, hard-working students,鈥� especially those with an interest in the sciences. Depending on whether students are on a four-year or five-year plan, students spend their first one or two years absorbed in major-oriented classes, and then immediately get 鈥渁 hands-on look at what [they] can do with [their] degree as they alternate six months in school and six months at full-time employment. Drexel University is filled with 鈥渓ots of colorful and unique characters on campus,鈥� most of whom are highly motivated individuals who 鈥渃onsistently challenge themselves and are willing to push themselves so that they can tap their full potential,鈥� often with the motivation of 鈥渓ooking for a good job.鈥� This focus can sometimes lead the community to feel 鈥渃liquey,鈥� but students note that the suite-style housing on campus 鈥渞eally helps with making friends.鈥� That goes a long way given a curriculum that can be 鈥渧ery stressful,鈥� with students often 鈥渋n a state of caffeination or exhaustion (or both).鈥� Students also note that the rigorous workload promotes a community atmosphere where they 鈥渞ely on one another to ensure they understand and complete the tasks that are assigned.鈥�

Drexel University鈥檚 urban, 74-acre campus brings 鈥渁ll the comforts of being on a college campus (security, familiarity)鈥� along with 鈥渁ll the conveniences and exciting things about city life in your backyard.鈥� Center City is packed with history, culture, and entertainment, so whether you want to visit the Philadelphia Orchestra or hang at 鈥渁 variety of clubs, theaters, and bars,鈥� it鈥檚 within walking distance. (A short subway ride is also an option.) For those who feel the school鈥檚 academic rigor means 鈥渢here is never a time where students aren鈥檛 hitting the library or studying with friends,鈥� the campus features multiple open areas to gather.
