Thanks to Drexel University鈥檚 combination of a quarterly schedule and a built-in cooperative education plan, West Philadelphia is the place to be for 鈥渟elf-motivated, hard-working students,鈥 especially those with an interest in the sciences. Depending on whether students are on a four-year or five-year plan, students spend their first one or two years absorbed in major-oriented classes, and then immediately get 鈥渁 hands-on look at what [they] can do with [their] degree as they alternate six months in school and six months at full-time employment. Students take pride knowing that 鈥渙ur work makes an impact in real companies鈥 and one student on the five-year plan notes that you 鈥渃an鈥檛 beat 21 months鈥 worth of full-time experiences.鈥 Students acknowledge that this program is 鈥渧ery different compared to the normal college experience,鈥 as it is 鈥渁 lot more challenging [and with] a lot less downtime.鈥 The quarter system may be new to some students but can 鈥渕ake the year go by faster.鈥 As one quarter system fan says, 鈥淚 was skeptical at first, but it was worth it.鈥 Students mention that their 鈥渆xtremely intelligent鈥 professors are 鈥渞esourceful and ready to help solve a problem or redirect to someone who can.鈥 They also credit the staff, a good number of whom are Drexel alumni and who work in the industry they鈥檙e teaching about, as being 鈥渂eyond knowledgeable on [their] subject.鈥 Come here, suggest students, for 鈥渁 rigorous, great education that almost guarantees a job or place in grad school.鈥
