Elon University is all about providing 鈥渕eaningful access to professors, research opportunities, internships, and leadership roles early鈥�which allows [students] to explore their interests in practical, hands-on ways.鈥� The community鈥斺�渆veryone from the most esteemed professors to our incredible dining hall workers, to the student life staff, to our groundskeepers鈥濃�攊s described as 鈥渢he most incredible support system鈥� and said to 鈥渨ant the best for all the students.鈥� In practice, this means that the 鈥渉ighly experienced and enthusiastic鈥� professors do 鈥渃onstant check-ups and meetings with you. They want to make sure that you鈥檙e not only succeeding in their class, but also having an amazing, enriching time in college.鈥� Additionally, the small class sizes allow for bonding 鈥渨ith both my professors and my peers, and it gives me more opportunities for success.鈥� There鈥檚 also lots of experiential learning, where 鈥渟tudents can use both classroom learning and real-world experience to understand the information being taught.鈥� For instance, one education student reports: 鈥淲e can student teach and participate in practicum experiences as early as our first year.鈥� The J-term鈥攁n abbreviated semester in January鈥攁lso gives students, even those with strict major requirements, the chance to apply what they鈥檝e learned abroad. Case in point, one student took a course titled 鈥淭hrough the Lens of ESPN鈥� that involved traveling to Brazil: 鈥淚 can surely say it was one of the best experiences of my life.鈥� All told, students report that Elon provides the 鈥渒ind of hands-on, inquiry-driven learning鈥� that makes their college experience 鈥渇eel deeply engaging, relevant, and transformative.鈥�

鈥淭he student body at Elon University is most akin to a mosaic, where there are a wide variety of colors everywhere, but all together it鈥檚 like you stepped into a rainbow.鈥� There鈥檚 a broad range 鈥渙f backgrounds and individuals from鈥�all over the world, that bring a wide variety of perspectives to the learning experience.鈥� Another student agrees, explaining that the students at Elon are also 鈥渄iverse when it comes to student interest and extracurricular involvement. I find a lot of athletes involved in art and music communities, and lots of cross-major friendship and interaction.鈥� Perhaps inspiring these cross-curricular interests is the fact that Elon students share 鈥渁 specific drive, and everyone is able to be involved on campus in some way.鈥� As one student confesses, 鈥淚 want to be as involved as I am because of those around me, and I am grateful for that every day.鈥� In short, 鈥渆veryone here belongs to Elon. We have different backgrounds, majors, goals, etc., but deep down, we are here because we care about having a community. Elon students seek community and seek to make you a part of it.鈥�

With its 鈥渕ix of modernity and brick,鈥� sweeping lawns, and picturesque fountains, Elon is a 鈥渧ery beautiful campus.鈥� Students name Lake Mary Nell, the Historic Neighborhood on campus, and the Center for the Arts (CFA) as favorite places to find students 鈥渓ounging around, chatting, or doing their work.鈥� The CFA is a particular hot spot, as it features a variety of theaters and studio spaces that house some of Elon鈥檚 popular performing arts programs, including Elon Student Television, 鈥渁 sketch comedy show similar to SNL.鈥� Student-run radio also 鈥渁dds color鈥� to campus life (鈥淲SOE 89.3FM forever!鈥�) Students enthuse about 鈥渙ur amazing theater program and productions鈥�We are definitely an arts school.鈥� Outside of creative endeavors, many students credit Greek life (鈥淚 wouldn鈥檛 be the student I am without it,鈥� confesses one student) and athletics for opening doors to 鈥渋ncredibly strong鈥� communities. One student sums up campus life best: 鈥淭here鈥檚 a strong culture of involvement here: students are constantly balancing academics with leadership roles, service organizations, research, athletics, and creative projects, and that energy creates an environment where it feels normal to want to do big things.鈥�

Undergraduates emphasize the 鈥渢ruly incredible professional resources鈥� at Elon University, any one of which 鈥減repares you for a job, providing solid connections and real-world experiences.鈥� Opportunities at the Student Professional Development Center extend beyond the classroom, from study-abroad to fellowships, leadership development, and rotational programs. It鈥檚 easy to find 鈥渁mple resources for career help and resume building鈥� on campus and online with the Elon Job Network, which advertises jobs, internships, recruiting events, and the Alumni Speaker Series, and encourages connections with alumni for resume feedback and future employment. Students can match directly with alumni mentors in their chosen fields with ADPList.

Student-run career societies, networking organizations, professional business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi, and similar interactive campus programs promote hands-on experience. Cinema and television majors rave about the advantages of professional training they receive on state-of-the-art broadcasting equipment: 鈥淓veryone鈥�has had internships lined up鈥�I feel this program excels at preparing students to become strong competitors in a very competitive field.鈥� Another Elon student emphasizes: 鈥淚 have so much confidence for the road ahead鈥�I am certain I will be prepared for a successful and happy career.鈥� According to PayScale.com, graduates with a bachelor鈥檚 degree report a median starting salary of $63,800.
