Hanover College is a school that is brimming with opportunity. And with its 鈥渂eautiful鈥� campus and emphasis on 鈥済aining real-life skills and making lifelong connections,鈥� it鈥檚 easy to understand why students are drawn here. The vast majority of classes at Hanover are 鈥渟mall and discussion based,鈥� and many also place 鈥渁 heavy focus on writing.鈥� While the academics can be challenging, students eagerly report that 鈥渕any of the harder classes have tutors for that specific class.鈥� Additionally, the Learning Center is always 鈥渨illing to go over things with you, edit papers and more.鈥� Importantly, it鈥檚 evident that Hanover professors 鈥渓ove what they teach...and that excitement often carries over to the student.鈥� Indeed, they excel at 鈥渂ring[ing] the material to life...and easily keep the attention of the class.鈥� Just as essential, Hanover professors are also known to be 鈥渃aring and down to earth鈥� and 鈥渄evoted to their students.鈥� And, as this ecstatic art history major concludes, 鈥淢ost of the professors on staff are part of the best people you will ever meet in life.鈥�

Hanover is home to a 鈥渟mall, pretty laid back and surprising[ly] interesting community.鈥� Indeed, while undergrads here admit that ethnic diversity 鈥渋s still an issue,鈥� they happily point out that you鈥檒l find a wide array of personality types. Of course, the 鈥渕ajority of the students are committed to their academics and [strive to find] a balance between work and play.鈥� Many Hanover undergrads 鈥渁re also extremely passionate about the things in which they invest their time, whatever that may be, and encourage that passion in others.鈥� It鈥檚 important to note that the college鈥檚 small size does make it 鈥淸easy] for cliques...to form.鈥� However, we鈥檙e assured 鈥渋t is also quite easy to break into the cliques if you are really interested in hanging out with certain groups of people.鈥� This social ease can be attributed to the fact that Hanover features some of the 鈥渇riendliest individuals that Indiana has to offer.鈥� In fact, you are virtually guaranteed 鈥渢o see a smiling face or to get a hello anywhere you walk on campus, whether it be from a fellow student or a faculty member.鈥� As one satisfied economics major sums up, 鈥淲e are all about making everyone feel welcome and making Hanover College home.鈥�

While some undergrads grumble that 鈥渓ife at Hanover is pretty slow,鈥� others steadfastly argue that 鈥渢here are SO many things [with which] to be involved.鈥� For starters, students can participate in 鈥渙ver sixty organizations鈥� including 鈥淎dopt A Grandparent, Circle K Community Service, Best Buddies, and so many more.鈥� Additionally, individuals who enjoy the arts will be delighted to hear that both 鈥渢he theater department and the improv group...never disappoint [and] the choir and band concerts [are] always very enjoyable [as well].鈥� For those that are more athletically inclined, we鈥檙e told that 鈥渨hen it鈥檚 warm out, students go hiking, play wiffleball, or...sand volleyball.鈥� Many undergrads also gravitate to the Student Activities Center which offers 鈥済ame tables, [a] theater room, televisions [and] study spots.鈥� And, in the evenings, 鈥渃hances are some club always has something planned鈥攂e it a movie showing [or] a poetry night!鈥� Hanover also has a relatively robust party scene. Indeed, undergrads inform us that 鈥淕reek life is big on...campus.鈥� And while there 鈥渁re only four frats...they are a [major] part of [the] social life.鈥� Finally, when students are looking for a break from the campus routine, they often head to nearby Madison or Louisville, which is a mere 鈥渇orty-minute drive [away]鈥� and the closest major city.

Current students feel that Hanover has 鈥渁 determination to help students succeed on a personal and career level,鈥� and that their college does everything it can to help round students out for their futures. 鈥淎s a sophomore, I already have had much field experience and I feel confident enough to enter my career field,鈥� one student explains. In addition to putting on a host of career-related workshops, the Hanover Career Center sponsors several major annual events including four career fairs, a grad school fair, and an alumni networking day, and hosts on-campus recruiting. It also arranges the City Semester internship programs in Philadelphia, Chicago, and Washington and runs a series of mock interviews, r茅sum茅 critiques, and career workshops.
