Founded in 1932, Michigan鈥檚 Lawrence Technological University is based on the simple notion of 鈥淭heory and Practice鈥濃�攖aking abstract ideas and applying them to real world problems. The university offers about 100 academic programs across its four colleges, as well as numerous mentorship, internship, and practical research opportunities via the Centrepolis Accelerator, the school鈥檚 manufacturing business accelerator. Just 2,300 undergraduates means 鈥渟mall class sizes with one-on-one opportunities,鈥� and plenty of certification, coaching, and consulting support through 鈥減rofessional programs for helping with future careers.鈥� LTU has an excellent reputation with companies that recruit and hire students, and the 鈥減otential for high quality jobs after college is very helpful and exciting.鈥� Resources are readily available, and all undergraduates receive a laptop or tablet, with over 80 percent of students receiving some form of financial aid. Professors at LTU 鈥渁re extremely flexible and truly do want to help you and see you succeed,鈥� which can be seen in their willingness 鈥渢o accommodate special situations.鈥� They are also 鈥渃learly knowledgeable in their fields and do their best to share that experience with students,鈥� running application-based courses with the most 鈥渦p-to-date labs and tools鈥� that are centered around 鈥渃reating problems and processes to outline the ever-changing industry standards and practices.鈥� One student says: 鈥淚n my computer networks class the professor brought in material to create our own Ethernet cords.鈥� Students feel they leave with a lot of experience, thanks to instructors frequently bringing in 鈥済uests from popular companies to explain how our work is tied to real life work scenarios鈥� and working to show 鈥渢he application of the theory you learned in class.鈥�

With having a small campus comes having a close-knit student body, and there is 鈥渁 strong sense of community鈥� where 鈥渆veryone really looks out for each other.鈥� As one student says: 鈥淚f you ask for help from any of your peers, you鈥檒l receive it or you鈥檒l solve the problem together.鈥� Despite its small size, this is a 鈥済roup of diverse students who come from different backgrounds, race, and countries.鈥� Students do say that there is 鈥渁 large percentage of commuters,鈥� but the school is working on changing that into a more 鈥渢ypical college on campus student body.鈥� Around half of students are athletes and many are also 鈥渁 part of Greek life or a part-time on-campus job.鈥�

Most out-of-classroom socializing comes by way of clubs, intramural sports, and 鈥渁 great array of organizations which allow for anyone to find their interest.鈥� At least once a week there is an activity hosted by a student organization 鈥渢hat is fun and interactive to attend,鈥� and for those who prefer to 鈥渙ften play games on our computers,鈥� the school also coaches across various esports. While there are also 鈥渟ome casual parties surrounding Greek life,鈥� on the whole, students here are busy with 鈥渓ots of studying [and being] devoted to school and a career afterwards.鈥�
