The all-female Meredith College aims to 鈥渂uild strong, independent women willing and able to go into the workplace confidently.鈥� Students who were once discouraged from stepping into positions of leadership report that鈥檚 not the case here: You鈥檒l 鈥渄iscover your strengths and how to use them,鈥� with classes 鈥渄esigned to make you think鈥� and which 鈥渁re beneficial to your Meredith career as well as in real life.鈥� That goal is brought to fruition by professors who are described as 鈥渁mazing,鈥� 鈥渨onderful,鈥� and 鈥減assionate about what they teach.鈥� They 鈥渒now you by name and want to get to know you,鈥� which is facilitated by the school鈥檚 smaller class sizes. In fact, students assure us that 鈥渋t鈥檚 hard not to pay attention in classes鈥� thanks to the level of excitement professors bring to the material. In all, this 鈥渃hallenging but comfortable鈥� learning environment serves to 鈥減ush you . . . to help you grow.鈥� As one pleased undergrad tells us, 鈥淢y favorite part of Meredith is going to class.鈥�

Undergrads at Meredith feel 鈥渂ound by the school鈥檚 traditions and by [their sense of] sisterhood.鈥� Overall, it鈥檚 a 鈥渧ery close-knit community鈥� where the 鈥減rime trait 鈥� is being very supportive of one another.鈥� While plenty comment that they鈥檙e able to interact with people from a variety of backgrounds (including non-traditional students who enroll later in life), race, and political beliefs, many also note that their peers feel 鈥渕ostly white,鈥� and that they hail from affluent backgrounds. Don鈥檛 let that fool you, though: The school is 鈥渂ecoming more diverse with every new class,鈥� and one shares, 鈥淚 feel like I meet unique and impressive people every class I have.鈥� And no matter what crowd you鈥檙e drawn towards, 鈥渋t鈥檚 easy to create strong friendships at Meredith.鈥�

Because of the rigor of the school鈥檚 curriculum, the women of Meredith often find they 鈥渙ften don鈥檛 have time for much more鈥� than studying. Their additional time is typically 鈥渃omposed of workouts [or] practices,鈥� as many choose to participate in athletics on top of their schoolwork. They also almost universally praise the Big Sister/Little Sister program on campus, calling it 鈥渁mazing鈥� and a 鈥渨onderful tradition.鈥� Those students with any free time left make the most of the campus鈥檚 鈥渂eautiful and 鈥� ideal location鈥� and note that Raleigh itself is 鈥渁 great city to live in.鈥� There鈥檚 鈥渁lways so much to do鈥�: sporting events, concerts, museums, a state fair, and farmers markets just to name a few. However, students warn that Meredith has some 鈥渟trict dorm rules,鈥� so those looking for nightlife often head to Raleigh for that as well, especially over the weekend, where 鈥渕ost fun has to be found off campus鈥� at schools like North Carolina State, which is 鈥渞ight down the road.鈥�
