Middle Tennessee State University has become a go-to choice for those wishing to receive a quality and affordable education close to home. The school offers more than 140 degree programs for undergraduates鈥攕ome 鈥渢hat are not seen in other universities, like animation.鈥� One student says, 鈥淵ou can literally major in fermentation and learn about the process of brewing beer.鈥� Students find these 鈥渉ighly specialized programs are closely tied to their industry, which means really good job placement.鈥� The on-campus growth doesn鈥檛 stop there: 鈥淎 staggering amount of resources [are] available to students, [ranging] from research programs to counseling services to 3D printing.鈥� Furthermore, students cite 鈥減retty good technology [being] available for students to use or borrow, with updated versions of most programs.鈥� As far as professors go, they 鈥渓ike to be on a first name basis鈥� with students and often 鈥渕ake it a point to get to know you.鈥� Students call faculty 鈥渧ery helpful and fair鈥� and 鈥渢horough in every aspect of the subject matter.鈥� One student shares, 鈥淎 professor of mine teaches by walking around to every individual student and making sure they understand the subject matter.鈥� They鈥檙e also 鈥渨illing to circle back around if anyone in the class gets off track.鈥� Students who do find themselves needing extra assistance with coursework or concepts can rest easy: 鈥淭here are a lot of programs in place to help you, such as free tutoring,鈥� and students also have 鈥減lenty of opportunities to gain a mentor鈥� for more focused guidance during their college careers. Many say this 鈥渁dvising is top notch,鈥� and that MTSU takes the time to 鈥渇oster an environment of care for each and every student.鈥� Overall, students agree: 鈥淭his school is amazing, and it is such a hidden gem.鈥�
