Ohio State, one of the Midwest鈥檚 premier universities, is a school with 鈥渟trong name-brand recognition.鈥� Of course, it also has a massive student population, which makes the 鈥渃ampus feel like its own city.鈥� Nevertheless, OSU does an admirable job of 鈥渉andling the large number of students that attend and creating opportunities for over 40,000 undergraduates.鈥� As one impressed student explains, 鈥淓very single student feels personally attended to and not [like] a number in the crowd of Buckeyes.鈥� Many undergrads here also appreciate that 鈥渢he college is very research-based, which allows students to fully discover what exactly they want to do, and to also build connections with faculty.鈥� And while there are many great academic programs, a number of undergrads specifically highlight the 鈥渧ery strong business school, medical program, and engineering school.鈥� Moreover, students generally give high marks to their 鈥渇riendly and approachable鈥� professors. Though you might encounter a 鈥渃ouple of duds...depend[ing] on the department,鈥� OSU鈥檚 faculty are usually 鈥渧ery passionate about the material they teach,鈥� which even makes for 鈥渧ery interesting general education classes.鈥� They鈥檙e also 鈥渕ore than willing to meet outside of their designated office hours to help a student struggling with course materials or even just to get coffee and chat.鈥� Best of all, 鈥渢hey truly seem to have a genuine interest in the students鈥� academic and career success.鈥�

Undergrads at Ohio State love that their peers come 鈥渇rom quite a range of backgrounds.鈥� Indeed, you can just as easily 鈥渇ind yourself meeting an individual from a very remote city in the state...[as you can] an out of state or international student from places...you鈥檇 think [the school] wouldn鈥檛 have a reach.鈥� Thankfully, no matter where they grew up, these Buckeyes are typically 鈥渄own-to-earth and have a strong desire to succeed.鈥� They also comprise 鈥渟ome of the most spirited fans鈥� you鈥檒l ever meet. And while students here 鈥渢ake their academics quite seriously,鈥� there鈥檚 still 鈥渁 very friendly [and] cooperative atmosphere.鈥� As one undergrad shares, 鈥淚鈥檝e never encountered anybody that didn鈥檛 want to work on... homework or [study] for an exam due to selfish competitive reasons.鈥� Students also greatly appreciate the fact that 鈥渢here are so many people here that every social group is well represented.鈥� For example, 鈥渢here鈥檚 a party scene, a big Esports scene, a lot of gym rats,鈥� and representatives from many religious groups. In other words, rest assured that 鈥渢here鈥檚 a place for everyone鈥� at Ohio State.

OSU students boast that 鈥渋t鈥檚 impossible to be bored here鈥� given that the university provides 鈥渢housands of opportunities鈥� for extracurricular involvement. For starters, undergrads can participate in 鈥渃ountless intramural or club sport[s],鈥� including volleyball, basketball and rock climbing. 鈥淲hen it鈥檚 football season, game days are always the best,鈥� says a student. They go on to add, 鈥淓xperiencing the atmosphere of the entire Ohio State campus in one stadium is amazing.鈥� Aside from athletics, students can join a number of clubs like 鈥淒ungeons and Dragons...student leadership, [and even] small [music] ensembles that don鈥檛 require auditions.鈥� Buckeyes also quickly find that 鈥済oing out on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays is extremely popular, whether [to] the bars or frat parties.鈥� Nevertheless, one student assures that 鈥渁lthough partying is common, there is absolutely no pressure to partake in any of it.鈥� In fact, 鈥渢here are an abundance of [alternative] options [like] weekly karaoke and trivia.鈥� Finally, should you need a breather from all that campus excitement, downtown Columbus is a 鈥済reat place...[filled with] art galleries, coffee shops,鈥� and 鈥渢op-notch鈥� restaurants.

Ohio State is a 鈥減restigious school with a lot of outreach.鈥� And one of its 鈥済reatest strengths is its ability to get students connected with other students, alumni, and businesses.鈥� Ohio State 鈥渉as a large network of alumni who expand opportunities for current students and encourage local and global businesses to recruit from the university.鈥� As a result, students often benefit from these connections while still enrolled, taking on internships and other roles that allow them 鈥渢o work on real projects with real companies.鈥� Additionally, Ohio State hosts several job fairs every year, and the school鈥檚 enrollees are quick to praise the ample amount of career resources offered, including weekly career preparation workshops and an entire Career and Internship Week filled with programs, panels, and networking events. Students can visit the Career Services Office to prep for events by receiving interview and r茅sum茅 feedback, practicing their pitch to companies, and even getting tips on appropriate attire. Payscale.com says that Ohio State graduates make a median starting salary of $66,700, and 52 percent report finding great meaning in their job.
