This mix of kids come together from all over the world to hone their craft and make connections, all while 鈥渟urrounded by encouraging mentors and an environment that inspires creativity.鈥� All are鈥攄uh鈥斺�渁rtsy,鈥� but since everyone鈥檚 really into the same thing, 鈥渋t鈥檚 easy to make friends.鈥� 鈥淚f you try to be sociable in the least bit, you鈥檙e bound to fit in,鈥� says a student. Yet, 鈥渢hey all have their quirks, so it doesn鈥檛 get boring.鈥� Most of the students are 鈥渧ery liberal,鈥� and there are 鈥渃learly a lot of rich kids here,鈥� but in the end, 鈥渄ifferences are completely normal here, and that鈥檚 almost how people fit in.鈥�
Students here enjoy being in New York City and yet somewhat removed from it, and 鈥渢here is never a boring night here, unless you choose to have one.鈥� The city offers 鈥渁n incredible variety of opportunities and allows us to learn more about culture and art,鈥� says a student. 鈥淎 group of friends going to see the latest exhibits at any one of the hundreds of museums is normal.鈥� Art shows and readings 鈥渢end to disperse into full-on parties,鈥� but the real fun is in the work: talking about everyone鈥檚 work, and 鈥渆xisting in a creative community.鈥�
The campus grounds in Brooklyn are 鈥渂eautiful鈥� and 鈥渋t doesn鈥檛 feel like a campus, more like a park, which is a great environment.鈥� A lot of everyone鈥檚 time is spent 鈥渋n the studio, in class, or at an internship,鈥� but 鈥渇un activities can be endless if you can spare the time away from your work.鈥� Also, the school tends to skew female with a high LGBT quotient, so 鈥渋f you are a straight male it is a paradise.鈥�
