Salisbury University is packed with academic features that thrill its enrollees. From the 鈥済ood nursing program鈥� to a biology department that is 鈥渜uite extensive in...labs and research studies鈥� to an education program that offers opportunities to engage 鈥渨ith the local community schools,鈥� students are thrilled. Atop that, there鈥檚 also the Clarke Honors College, which 鈥済ave me opportunities to be more personal with what I study and write about,鈥� and of course the Perdue School of Business, which they find to be 鈥渙ne of the best in the state.鈥� Students also rave about support services: the library 鈥渟ervices are amazing鈥� and there鈥檚 a robust network of academic encouragement from groups like Women in STEM. One student with a learning difference also notes that 鈥渢eachers are very respectful of my disorder and provide me [with] what I need to succeed.鈥� Though Salisbury offers all of this and more to its attendees, it also gives students 鈥渁 lot of freedom to work things out鈥� independently. Students enthuse about outdoor classes, 鈥渢eam-based learning,鈥� the ability to use 鈥渁ugmented reality to give a presentation virtually,鈥� and 鈥渞eally strong study abroad [programs] for lots of different majors.鈥� One art student sums up Salisbury by saying: 鈥淭he opportunities provided, especially in the art department, are absolutely fantastic.鈥�

If you want the support of peers who 鈥減ush me to work hard every day and do not let me procrastinate,鈥� Salisbury University鈥檚 a great choice. Students have warm words for their fellows, saying that they鈥檙e 鈥渙pen to help and make connections,鈥� as well as 鈥渨elcoming and supportive,鈥� and, in short, among 鈥渢he best people I have met.鈥� That community praise is well-earned by 鈥渁 super diverse and awesome student body with people from all walks of life. We鈥檝e got artists, musicians, and more.鈥� If anything, students say they鈥檒l 鈥渂e sad to leave鈥� the school when they graduate: 鈥淚 have made lifelong friends and had a ton of fun.鈥�

Students gush about the food at Salisbury: 鈥淚鈥檓 in love with the variety of healthy options and vegetarian accommodations!鈥� says one student; 鈥淚 love food truck night!鈥� announces another; 鈥淚 love the poke bowls when they are available in the Bistro,鈥� agrees another student. Lobster nights, and the convenience of 鈥渂eing able to stop and get food at the many places on campus in between classes,鈥� are also among students鈥� favorite aspects of Salisbury living. Additionally, Salisbury has a thriving athletic community with lots of options for students to enjoy varsity, club, and intramural sports. One student explains that 鈥減eople are always playing outside or going to the gym.鈥� On the weekends, students can be found cheering on the football, softball, basketball, and rugby teams, and enjoying the local food scene afterwards. For those not interested in athletics, 鈥渢here is a club or group for everyone and anyone. It is very inclusive鈥� and as one student notes, 鈥淚 strongly enjoy the many events programs and clubs available on campus.鈥� Another student offered a final assessment of life at Salisbury: 鈥淚 rate this campus 100/100. Everything is excellent.鈥�

Given that Salisbury University students are known as Sea Gulls, it is appropriate that their online service portal, CareerGulls, is all about helping students take flight, supporting them both as students and alumni. For those who haven鈥檛 yet picked a path, the journey begins as a first-year, with Living Learning Communities that help connect classes to careers and spark interests with faculty and peers, whether that鈥檚 in Esports, environment and sustainability, STEM, or visual arts. For further flexibility鈥攖hose stretching their wings鈥擡xploratory Studies students match early on with professional advisors, and there鈥檚 a robust Interdisciplinary Studies Program for students seeking to hone skills across various majors. All told, 鈥淢y school is about preparing focused small/medium-sized groups of students for specific careers where they can immediately benefit personally and impact the community for good.鈥� This help comes in all shapes, including a Career Closet of donated business professional/casual attire that students can wear to nail that first impression. There鈥檚 also an online internship and job-search program tied to student credentials and a mentor network. 鈥淪alisbury鈥檚 resources are...extremely helpful and easily accessible,鈥� and that鈥檚 not even counting the 300+ employers who visit the school directly to recruit the best and brightest. The prevailing message is that 鈥渢his school has a very good ability to help students find career opportunities during school and after they leave,鈥� and that resonates with what鈥檚 reported back to PayScale: 54 percent of graduates find a high meaning in their job, and they make a median of $63,200 in their early-career pay.
