Siena University offers a 鈥渨elcoming environment, nice walkable campus, [and is] very generous in scholarships.鈥� Students are afforded the opportunity to 鈥渨ork on in-depth projects that require research, problem-solving, and collaboration.鈥� For example, 鈥淪iena has built a growing ecosystem of entrepreneurship resources, including programs that help students launch start-ups, develop prototypes, and work with local businesses.鈥� Undergrads also have access to 鈥渋nnovative classroom setups providing more of a seminar setting rather than a lecture setting.鈥� Additionally, 鈥渢he labs are a great opportunity for hands-on learning with new technology such as advanced microscopes.鈥� Most professors manage to find a nice 鈥渂alance between rigor and encouragement,鈥� though a few can be 鈥減ainfully boring.鈥� However, 鈥渕any of them make an effort to get to know us individually, asking about our goals, encouraging our interests, and checking in when they know we鈥檙e juggling a lot.鈥� Another student chimes in, 鈥淭hey also create a very hospitable and safe environment where I feel comfortable talking to them about anything.鈥� Simply put, professors here 鈥渨ant to see you excel and if you work hard in class, they will recommend you for tons of opportunities, both within and outside of the university.鈥� But perhaps best of all, as graduation nears, students 鈥渁re able to find help from alumni and the administration to obtain a job after Siena.鈥�

Overall, students at Siena think highly of their classmates, insisting they鈥檙e 鈥渟ome of the most welcoming people [you鈥檒l] ever meet.鈥� As one individual explains, 鈥淢y peers take their academics seriously, but they鈥檙e equally committed to supporting one another, whether that鈥檚 sharing study guides, saving a seat in the library or showing up to cheer on a friend at a performance or game.鈥� Some do caution that Siena can seem 鈥渘ot very鈥�diverse,鈥� noting that 鈥渕ost students are white, straight, and some form of Christian.鈥� However, you鈥檒l certainly find peers who fall outside of those demographics. One student explains, 鈥淲hile the population is predominantly Christian and Catholic, as it is a Catholic university, I feel comfortable as a Jewish student and as a queer woman.鈥� But what undergrads say 鈥渟tands out most is how genuinely curious everyone is, not just about their majors, but about the world, ideas, and each other. I鈥檓 surrounded by students who ask thoughtful questions, challenge assumptions, and care deeply about learning for its own sake.鈥� In turn, these individuals help foster 鈥渁n environment that is non-competitive, and one where you build confidence in each other inside and outside of the classroom.鈥�

Students appreciate the 鈥渉uge number of clubs to choose from鈥� at Siena. These range from 鈥渕ock trial team and Lost in Sound鈥� (an a cappella group) to 鈥渋ntramural football and softball.鈥� The university also sponsors 鈥渆vents every week, whether that be food trucks on campus, therapy dogs, free giveaways, or even just giving out Boba.鈥� Additionally, students enjoy 鈥渃lub-sponsored movie nights, student government activities, improv shows, or late-night runs to the dining hall with friends.鈥� Nevertheless, a few undergrads lament that 鈥渙n the weekends there鈥檚 not much to do.鈥� Some attribute this to the fact that 鈥渢he majority of the residential student body live in-state, so a lot of people go home very often.鈥� Others counter that there are still activities happening. For example, 鈥淪aturdays are spent at the rugby field where the berm gets packed and鈥�[there鈥檚] a real community spirit.鈥� When it comes down to it, 鈥渟pending time with friends is a big part of college鈥�whether it鈥檚 study sessions with them or just dinner in the hall.鈥� Another student sums up, 鈥淥ne of my favorite parts of campus life is how easy it is to run into people you know鈥�It makes school feel close-knit in a way that鈥檚 comforting.鈥�
