St. Bonaventure University, located in Western New York, is a 鈥淐atholic university in the Franciscan tradition.鈥� The university鈥檚 鈥済reatest strengths include its qualified staff, welcoming student body, and opportunities for service and extracurricular activities,鈥� all contributing to 鈥渁 well-rounded college experience.鈥� Most students agree that 鈥渢he professors are the backbone of this university.鈥� The faculty 鈥渋s genuinely engaged with the students, their education, and their lives.鈥� One student says the professors are 鈥渁mazing; easy to work with, helpful with all questions, and [they] make class as interesting as possible.鈥� Professors 鈥渁re always willing to spend extra time with you when needed,鈥� understanding 鈥渢he value of one-on-one conversation and availability outside of the classroom.鈥� Students are encouraged to provide feedback to the faculty, noting that professors 鈥渞eally take our teacher evaluations to heart.鈥� The intimate size of the university ensures that every student has 鈥渢he opportunity to tutor, teach, do research, and lead during their undergrad鈥� career. The school 鈥渇osters social, academic, and spiritual growth for students of all backgrounds,鈥� which 鈥減repares students for the professional world.鈥� This holistic approach may explain why 99 percent of graduates are employed or enter graduate school within six months of graduation. As one student says, 鈥淚t鈥檚 a small school with great programs and an enormously huge heart.鈥�

They are creative, thoughtful, respectful of others, and well-informed.鈥� One undergrad observes that the student body is 鈥淯nfailingly kind to one another. There is a true sense of comradery and support.鈥� Another student shares, 鈥淲e affectionately call our student body the Bona Bubble because of how inclusive and loving it is.鈥� It鈥檚 a place where 鈥渆veryone knows each other and looks out for one another.鈥� Students 鈥渁t Bonaventure come from all different walks of life, but friendships are formed that last a lifetime, no matter the differences in backgrounds.鈥� As one student states, 鈥淚 would not change my experience at Bona鈥檚 for the world.鈥�

鈥淪BU is filled with students who are passionate in the classroom, in the line of volunteer service, and in school spirit,鈥� and 鈥済etting involved is a huge part of the culture here.鈥� The school 鈥渉olds a ton of events on campus, which are extremely fun and entertaining. Clubs are big at Bonas, too.鈥� When students are not studying or in class, they often spend time with friends, going to the gym, playing sports, and participating in club meetings and school events. Students also enjoy walking on the 鈥渂eautiful trail鈥� around campus and 鈥渆xploring the nearby national forest.鈥� As one student remarks, 鈥淭here is always something fun to do.鈥� The sense of school spirit is palpable, especially during basketball games, which 鈥渁re a lot of fun.鈥� One student concurs, 鈥淵ou can always tell when game day is for the men鈥檚 basketball team just by walking through campus; it gets pretty crazy.鈥� During the week, 鈥渟tudents are very focused on studies,鈥� but 鈥渙n weekends, there are a ton of fun parties off campus,鈥� and 鈥渢he 鈥楽keller鈥� (campus bar) is also popular.鈥� And one student thoughtfully adds, 鈥淲eekends for Bona鈥檚 students are fun because everyone knows each other.鈥�
