Taylor University offers a 鈥渟trong [Christian] faith-based curriculum鈥� that includes a minor in Scripture Engagement and the backing of a supportive community in which 鈥渟ervant leadership is very apparent.鈥� Within that comes a 鈥渇ocus on developing wellrounded students鈥� that鈥檚 considered 鈥渙ne of the best things鈥� about Taylor. The school maintains 鈥渁cademically high standards,鈥� and students appreciate that their 鈥淐hristian faith is integrated into the classes.鈥� They鈥檙e also fond of the interactive curriculum, where 鈥減roject-based learning takes a front seat in most classrooms.鈥� Examples include a history class where students act out Bible stories and physical therapy classes where students 鈥済et to help assess, diagnose, and treat patients.鈥� Through it all, faculty are considered 鈥渕ore than teachers. They are mentors for our faith and our lives.鈥� As one student shares, 鈥淚 feel like I can talk with many of them as friends but also experts in their field.鈥� Professors here are 鈥渁lways so welcoming and supportive,鈥� and students appreciate the quality education they receive. As one student remarks, 鈥淢y academic experience has prepared me well for graduate school.鈥�

The student body is described as 鈥渧ery inclusive and communal.鈥� It鈥檚 a group of 鈥渉appy and energetic鈥� people who are 鈥渧ery friendly and welcoming.鈥� Students are thoughtful and look out for one another: 鈥淲hen you have a bad day they notice and ask you how you鈥檙e doing.鈥� Students are 鈥渢ypically very responsible鈥� and 鈥渉old each other accountable in academics and faith.鈥� One of the school鈥檚 greatest strengths is the 鈥渦nity of the students because of [their] shared values.鈥� Students 鈥渓ove the Lord and show the love of Jesus to all those around them.鈥� Taylor stands out for 鈥渢he strength of [its] community鈥� and the 鈥済enuine care students have for each other.鈥� And one student describes their peers as 鈥渆xcited and happy to be here.鈥� The community is 鈥渁ctive and inviting,鈥� and 鈥渕aking friends is easy.鈥� As one student illustrates, 鈥淢y friends visiting from other schools for only the weekend notice the difference in the community here,鈥� adding, 鈥淚 am surrounded by the best people I鈥檝e ever known, and it鈥檚 a whole school full of them! I am very thankful.鈥�

Taylor is a vibrant campus filled with traditions and student-led activities. The dorms serve as a central hub for community building, fostering an 鈥渁wesome resident life culture.鈥� As one student describes, 鈥淚n my dorm, we all leave our doors open and share our rooms. It鈥檚 very much a community that we鈥檙e all involved in.鈥� This community feeling is enhanced by fun competitions between the dorms, including Airband, a lip-syncing and choreography contest, and Nostalgia Night, where students perform covers of songs released before the senior class was born. A favorite tradition is the annual Silent Night, where students wear costumes and remain silent until the basketball team scores its 10th point, at which point they erupt with cheers. Beyond these traditions, students fill their days with extracurricular activities, such as sports, clubs, and 鈥減ick-a-dates,鈥� where a group of students who live on a floor or a wing together 鈥渋nvite a friend of the opposite sex and go bowling, canoeing, or roller-skating.鈥� Many students also attend Bible study and chapel services. As one student explains, chapels 鈥渁re optional, but you have to go early if you want a seat. This shows the electric energy at Taylor.鈥� Another student adds, 鈥淢y peers at Taylor have a unique fire and energy. Every chapel is filled with energetic students excited to worship the Lord.鈥�

Faith plays a large role at Taylor University, so much so that its career services are handled by the Calling & Career Office (CCO), which seeks not just to find employment for its students but 鈥渢o connect [them] to people and experiences that guide them in discerning a faithful response to God鈥檚 call.鈥� So far as the school鈥檚 National Association of College and Employers (NACE) outcomes go, students are highly satisfied with the results, saying that the school 鈥淸sets] you up well for your future career.鈥� Moreover, 99 percent of students are either employed or continuing their education within six months of graduation. Among the services offered by career coaches in the CCO are r茅sum茅 reviews and interview preparation, as well as deeper discussions about one鈥檚 potential vocation, including Enneagram consultations, a type of spiritual personality assessment. Students can also access the school鈥檚 job search boards and build connections with what the school describes as 鈥淭aylor鈥檚 rich network of caring alumni, parents, and friends.鈥� Based on what鈥檚 reported to PayScale by graduates, those in their early career should expect a median salary of about $62,600.
