Texas Christian University is a private institution that 鈥減rovides more than enough resources to help each and every student.鈥� Interdisciplinary study is encouraged, and there are 鈥減lenty of research opportunities to get involved in knowledge outside of the strict curriculum.鈥� Leadership and experiential learning opportunities can be found throughout a student鈥檚 college career, with 鈥渁 great network of connections within each major鈥� that includes鈥攅ven as an undergraduate鈥斺�渁ccess to helping professors with research and actual, practical community projects.鈥� Adaptation is an important facet of a TCU education, and one student says that 鈥渁cademics are always improving with a great Honors program, new research opportunities, and new technology/class options every year.鈥� One student appreciates having such 鈥渁 deep dive of unheard topics, such as a class I took last semester on public apologies.鈥� Students appreciate that their professors have plenty of 鈥渂ackground experiences outside their academic career鈥� in addition to 鈥渆xtensive knowledge on the subjects they teach,鈥� and students note that these 鈥渦nique鈥� perspectives really 鈥渁dd to the classes you are in.鈥� These willing mentors are also described as 鈥渧ery dedicated to their students鈥� and 鈥渆xcited to interact with students in a positive, constructive manner.鈥� At TCU, 鈥渢he professors are rooting for our well-being and accomplishment of our goals.鈥�

This is 鈥渁 diverse, kind, and welcoming community鈥� wherein 鈥渢here are so many groups to get involved in and it鈥檚 heavily encouraged to do so.鈥� Campus is said to feel more like a 鈥渃ollection of overlapping communities鈥� and 鈥渢here is a strong sense that students here are involved in more than one world at once.鈥� Horned Frogs are 鈥渧ery driven and motivated to succeed in their classes but also manage their time well to have a balanced life outside of classes.鈥� A 鈥渓ot of folks [are] involved in Greek life or an organization on campus,鈥� and 鈥渆veryone seems to have a good friend group and people they do things with.鈥� One says, 鈥淓veryone is so happy and nice. Just walking around, you feel better instantly because [of] the community.鈥� While these friends are often made within classes, 鈥渋t doesn鈥檛 matter what degree you鈥檙e pursuing, you can always meet other people who you can share talks, moments, and memories with.鈥� As one student puts it, 鈥淢any students hold leadership roles, work jobs, participate in service, or compete in athletics, yet still make time to build genuine relationships.鈥�

鈥淟ife at TCU is busy in the best way,鈥� with most days being 鈥渁 mix of classes, meetings, and being constantly on the move across campus.鈥� The school 鈥渄oes a great job of making their students feel comfortable and at home on campus,鈥� and there are 鈥渁 lot of organizations and ways to get plugged in.鈥� While this is a Big 12 school for varsity teams with 鈥渋ncredible to watch鈥� sports, there is also a wide variety of intramural sports 鈥渞anging from video game tournaments, ping pong tournaments, all the way to outdoor soccer, indoor soccer, flag football, and the list goes on.鈥� The school鈥檚 location also provides access to big sports teams and 鈥渁 bunch of concerts in the [Dallas-Fort Worth] area that a lot of students go to.鈥� Come springtime, 鈥渢he campus comes alive and most people during their free time spend it outside on campus having a lot of fun and playing games.鈥� Friendly faces are the norm, and it鈥檚 鈥渃ommon to see classmates supporting each other at athletic events, service projects, or student organization meetings.鈥� Whatever you end up doing, 鈥渢here is so much opportunity for students to interact with others.鈥�

At Texas Christian University, students are known as Horned Frogs, and when it comes to the Center for Career & Professional Development, everybody hops to it. 鈥淭CU is about widening your horizons and working hard for future success,鈥� and there鈥檚 a four-year career planner to back that up, one that gradually introduces students to the available resources and encourages internships and study abroad where appropriate. There are over 100 career events each year, from big bucket fall and spring expos to specific fairs for Actuaries or Engineering & Technology, plus webinars, showcases, and networking nights. As one student explains, 鈥淭his school prioritizes to ensure that each student graduates and is able to find a job.鈥� On-campus consultants are on call for anything, whether that's helping with the look of your r茅sum茅 or portfolio, prepping you for an interview, or developing your personal brand. And the online FrogJobs network recommends opportunities based on the skills, interests, and majors you鈥檝e listed. Finally, TCU also partners with other platforms to provide valuable skills through simulated work in everything from cybersecurity to accounting and health care. Overall, students report success with networking and appreciate that 鈥淭CU prepares you for the real world once you graduate.鈥� The 2023 class achieved an 81 percent employment rate (or higher education enrollment) within six months of graduation, and per PayScale, their early career salary was around $70,800.
