Students are drawn to Texas State University based on the quality and opportunity of its many offerings, in particular the 鈥渧ery strong STEM program,鈥� the 鈥渢op of the line鈥� education program, and for those studying chemistry, biology, and human health, 鈥渆xceptional鈥� research programs. Faculty are also admired on a personal level as they鈥檙e 鈥渘ot only skilled, but care deeply about their students鈥� success.鈥� One student enthuses: 鈥淚 can鈥檛 emphasize how much I love my professors and coursework. Honestly, school has felt like a hobby these past years that I have thoroughly enjoyed.鈥� Given that Texas State caters to over 33,000 undergraduates and offers more than 200 degree programs, students admit that there are a number of large-class lectures. But the general high satisfaction of students speaks to the quality of classes, and the 鈥渨onderful professors that ignite [their] academic passions.鈥� There鈥檚 talk of a science course that had students 鈥減laying with Play-Doh to learn structures of meiosis鈥� and taking a 鈥淣ew York fashion trip to learn about popular businesses.鈥� Marketing students enthusiastically speak of the actual campaigns they had to put together for class: 鈥淲e actually demonstrated our knowledge when we implemented it in our project.鈥� As one student puts it: 鈥淚 have loved all of my professors so far, they really are passionate about their work and their research, and they are also wonderful people to talk to. My overall experience has been amazing.鈥�

鈥淭he community of peers I have built at Texas State University is something I have always dreamed of,鈥� confides one senior. That鈥檚 a common refrain, given there are over 350 student groups to choose from: 鈥淚 am involved with TXST Trainwreck (ultimate frisbee) which has let me meet my closest friends on campus and future roommates!鈥� Academically, 鈥渟tudents at Texas State actively seek support through one another during class and outside.鈥� Students describe their peers as 鈥渒nowledgeable and passionate for their studies,鈥� and given the school鈥檚 demographics, are appreciative of the 鈥渟trong female presence overall.鈥� With a majority of students hailing originally from the Lone Star State, the vibe on campus is 鈥渧ery homey and welcoming.鈥� But don鈥檛 be fooled, as 鈥淭exas State is a really diverse school in many aspects (race, national origin, gender/sexuality, etc.).鈥� Moreover, 鈥渢he curriculum is oriented toward inclusivity.鈥� The result, say students, is 鈥渁 welcoming environment where the student body feels that they can be their true selves here without any judgment.鈥� All in all, 鈥渢here鈥檚 a place for everyone here.鈥�

Texas State is an 鈥渁bsolutely beautiful鈥� campus that is 鈥渟urrounded by trees and wildlife鈥� and marked by the 鈥済orgeous river that runs through it.鈥� It鈥檚 no surprise that river-based activities such as tubing, kayaking, and 鈥渢he moonlight paddle board鈥� are extremely popular. It鈥檚 also fitting that students also make the most of opportunities to preserve that beauty 鈥渋n the community, helping to conserve the San Marcos river and organize clean ups for the area.鈥� Other 鈥渙utdoor opportunities,鈥� such as hiking, camping, or hanging out nearby Sewell Park, are favorite ways for Bobcats to 鈥渆ase their worries.鈥� As one fourth-year student puts it, 鈥測ou won鈥檛 be bored.鈥� Some undergraduates 鈥渃ome to Texas State thinking it鈥檚 party hard, which it can be and is, but you also have to work hard.鈥� It鈥檚 an all-in sort of attitude, one that鈥檚 best evoked by sports, shows, and Greek life: 鈥淚 believe my school鈥檚 spirit is our biggest trait.鈥�
