Davis is a 鈥減retty diverse community鈥� where most students are 鈥渧ery friendly and thoughtful鈥� and 鈥渇ew are quick to judge.鈥� As one undergrad notes, 鈥淢ost students spend their days biking furiously from class to class,鈥� but 鈥渆veryone is very nice and welcoming.鈥� 鈥淎nyone can ask any student for directions and the student will gladly stop biking to help out.鈥� While Davis 鈥渋s a top university, you don鈥檛 feel like everyone is competing against you鈥� and 鈥渉elp from your peers鈥� is easy to find. And while Davis students 鈥渁re academically rigorous,鈥� they are 鈥渜uirky and [creative]鈥� too, creating 鈥渢he perfect mixture of serious about studying and down to earth and fun.鈥� In general, 鈥渕ost are also very open to making new friends or trying something new.鈥�

UC Davis students boast about belonging to a 鈥済reen school鈥� that 鈥減romotes sustainability.鈥� Many students gravitate toward 鈥渙utdoor activities to fill their time,鈥� like 鈥減ick-up soccer,鈥� visiting the local farmers market or 鈥渞eading at the arboretum.鈥� Students report that 鈥渆ven if you don鈥檛 have a car,鈥� the 鈥渂ike paths make it really easy to get around the city and campus鈥� and the 鈥渇ree convenient bus systems鈥� ensure there are 鈥減lenty of transportation options鈥� available to students. And with 鈥�700+ clubs on campus including [many] Greek organizations,鈥� and a variety of identity and cultural-based centers and programming, students have many opportunities to connect. The downtown Davis nightlife is 鈥渕ostly low-key,鈥� but students can enjoy 鈥済ood food, open mic night, trivia night,鈥� 鈥渓ocal shows, line dancing, and just about everything in between.鈥� And because it is near 鈥淭ahoe, San Francisco, [and] Napa,鈥� Davis is 鈥渁 great location for day trips or weekend trips.鈥� Students say they maintain a good 鈥渂alance between school life and their social life because of all the opportunities and activities.鈥�

Without a doubt, UC Davis provides students with 鈥渘umerous career and internship resources.鈥� Undergrads have easy access to an outstanding Internship and Career Center that assists with all aspects of career planning. Students can use the office to explore career paths associated with various majors, find opportunities for job shadowing, and connect with various professional associations. Students can receive individual counseling on everything from how to conduct a job search to interview techniques and salary negotiation. UC Davis also does a tremendous job of attracting top companies to recruit on campus. The university hosts multiple career fairs throughout the year allowing undergrads to network with hundreds of employers.
