Undergraduates at the University of California鈥擱iverside have the opportunity to get 鈥渁 great education while also having fun.鈥� The university goes to great lengths to ensure that 鈥渆veryone feels welcome and wanted on campus鈥� and that鈥檚 palpable to the students. Undergrads here also greatly benefit from all the research being conducted at Riverside. As one giddy student explains, 鈥淭here are so many different projects happening in [a variety of] fields鈥� and the opportunities to participate are quite 鈥済enerous.鈥� Additionally, UCR undergrads appreciate that 鈥渢here are so many programs to help student[s] stay on track academically and even more to help student[s] in academic recovery.鈥� Students have an abundance of courses and majors from which to choose; highlights include the 鈥渧ery prestigious entomology and agriculture departments.鈥� In general, students report that professors are 鈥渧ery helpful and friendly.鈥� They tend to be 鈥減assionate and engaged鈥� as well as 鈥渒nowledgeable.鈥� And they make it abundantly clear that 鈥渢hey love their field, their job, and their students.鈥� As one amazed student reveals, 鈥淚 have not yet met a professor that wasn鈥檛 happy to rearrange their plans, so they could help a student in need.鈥�

Individuals greatly interested in UC Riverside will be delighted to learn that the school maintains a 鈥渧ery diverse鈥� student body. In turn, this allows all undergrads to truly 鈥渇eel welcome.鈥� Of course, the fact that most students here are 鈥渆xtremely friendly and supportive鈥� also helps. One proud undergrad agrees sharing, 鈥淚t is easy to approach most people and start a conversation.鈥� Beyond their general openness, Riverside students also describe their classmates as 鈥渓iberal and politically-engaged.鈥� Additionally, the vast majority seem to have 鈥渁n appetite to learn and discover.鈥� Perhaps more importantly, undergrads readily assert that their fellow students 鈥渁re committed to the success of the [Riverside] community as a whole.鈥� Indeed, they empathize 鈥渨ith those who are struggling and they seek to be involved both on and off campus.鈥� And while they are certainly 鈥減assionate about what they believe in,鈥� they鈥檙e also 鈥渞espectful of...[the] opinions [of others].鈥� Overall, as this grateful undergrad explains, 鈥淢y peers at the University of California, Riverside make my college experience a great one. They make college feel safe, fun, and exciting.鈥� And this fellow student wholeheartedly agrees exclaiming, 鈥淐ollege life is stressful but it is easier with the right people surrounding you. And that鈥檚 what I have here at UCR.鈥�

Boredom is virtually non-existent at UC Riverside. After all, 鈥渢here is always something to do on campus throughout the day.鈥� For example, 鈥淓very week there is a mini-concert in the middle of campus to showcase a local group (small band or DJ).鈥� There are also a number of 鈥渃areer workshops, movie screenings, [and] cultural events鈥� of which to take advantage. Additionally, students have the opportunity to participate in 鈥渙ver 400 clubs on campus, many of which organize their own activities and will often go on excursions or trips.鈥� A number of undergrads also report that the 鈥減arty scene is decent,鈥� though it鈥檚 often relegated to the weekend. Outdoor enthusiasts love that UCR is adjacent to the Box Spring Mountains. Hence, there are 鈥渁 plethora of trails for hiking.鈥� Plenty of students can also be found hanging at the Hub which has 鈥渁 game room where you can play pool, board games or watch TV.鈥� Even more enticing, 鈥渢he recreation center has a hot tub and a recreational pool with vortex current as well as lap pool. It鈥檚 also possible to play volleyball, basketball, badminton, racquetball, and other games [as well as use] the rock-climbing wall.鈥� But the best aspect of the rec center? It 鈥減rovides free massages twice a week.鈥�

UCR students are known for being driven and focused, so it鈥檚 no wonder that most graduate feeling well-prepared for their careers. The university offers numerous resources for those looking to enter the job market with their feet on the ground, and one student notes the school 鈥渢akes pride in preparing students for jobs by encouraging them to dive into research and internships.鈥� For engineers and those going into sciences, UCR鈥檚 centers and institutes such as the Center for Environmental Research and Technology and the Agricultural Experimentation Station provide ample opportunities for students to gain research experience. The Career Center further helps by organizing fairs and offering training in professional skills, and their SCOTjobs online database lists numerous internships and job opportunities. It certainly pays off: graduates enter their careers making an average of $56,800 per year, with 49 percent reporting that their work as 鈥渉igh meaning.鈥�
