Students praise the University of Colorado Boulder from the strength of its academics (particularly its 鈥渟trong physics reputation鈥� and business and environmental offerings) to 鈥渁ll the perks of a big state university,鈥� while maintaining the much-desired atmosphere of a 鈥渃ollege town鈥� filled with 鈥測oung intellectuals.鈥� In-state students add that 鈥渢he price for an education of this caliber is phenomenal,鈥� with one student adding that they found CU Boulder鈥檚 education to be 鈥渟ignificantly better鈥� than that of the private school they鈥檇 transferred from. The school鈥檚 鈥渢op-notch leadership program鈥� facilitates teamwork, problem solving, and communication in a hands-on, challenging setting through the Mountain Research Station (MRS), the Outdoor Pursuits Challenge Course, and Peak to Peak Leadership. CU Boulder鈥檚 鈥渁mazing鈥� and 鈥渁pproachable鈥� faculty lists five Nobel laureates and nine MacArthur 鈥榞enius grant鈥� recipients among its ranks, but there鈥檚 no need to worry about any big heads in the hallways or classrooms, as professors are 鈥渋nterested in students personally鈥� and 鈥渨ill treat you as an adult.鈥� One student assures that professors are 鈥渃onsistently excellent across the wide variety of subjects I have taken courses in, from geography to astronomy and economics to literature.鈥� CU Boulder 鈥減rovides a modern, research-based education that focuses on creating aware citizens [who] go on to change the world (while having fun).鈥� Students agree, with one adding that the school has 鈥渆xcellent diversity in subjects and courses, [lots of ] school spirit, [and] packed sports games.鈥� And one environmental studies major shares, 鈥淚n my four years as an undergrad, I have traveled places and learned things that I never imagined I would or could experience.鈥� Life Nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, students appreciate nature and the great outdoors and sing the praises of their 鈥渇un, beautiful college town.鈥� Many students 鈥済o skiing in the mountains on days that [they] don鈥檛 have classes,鈥� join in the 鈥渆xtremely popular鈥� campus pastime of snowboarding, or 鈥済o hiking when the weather is nice.鈥� As one student states, 鈥淏eing active and outdoors is a staple for students.鈥� One doesn鈥檛 necessarily need to climb a mountain to have fun, though, and at the center of campus, 鈥淔arrand Field is always busy on nice days with students playing Frisbee, football, soccer [or] tanning.鈥� Students also consider themselves fortunate to live in 鈥渢he best college town in the U.S.,鈥� citing Boulder鈥檚 鈥渄iverse and active鈥� music scene and a 鈥減rominent nightlife at the bars.鈥� Although 鈥減artying is big,鈥� students are devoted to their classes, and 鈥渕ost take school very seriously and are irritated by [its] depiction as a 鈥榩arty school.鈥欌�� While some students do 鈥淸like] to go out and party on the weekends,鈥� others prefer to 鈥済o shopping and eat out on Pearl Street,鈥� and 鈥渞egardless of the time of day, students can be seen outside relaxing, exercising, or just hanging out with friends.鈥�

Given how they spend their time, it should be unsurprising that CU Boulder students are often described as 鈥渙utdoorsy, outgoing, and always up for anything.鈥� They 鈥渓ove to be outside and often will spend their weekends in the mountains.鈥� Students at CU Boulder have 鈥渄iverse passions鈥� and 鈥渄iverse backgrounds鈥� and are described as 鈥渒ind,鈥� 鈥済enuine,鈥� 鈥渟mart,鈥� and 鈥渁thletic.鈥� In addition, many agree that 鈥渢here isn鈥檛 really a typical student, which is awesome.鈥� An additional benefit of CU Boulder is that 鈥渢he school is so large everyone fits into a group, no matter what your interests are,鈥� with one student noting that those 鈥渨ho make an effort to meet new people and try new things will be very happy and have a great time at CU Boulder.鈥� Another student raves: 鈥淲hen I stepped foot on CU鈥檚 campus, I immediately felt at home鈥�Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. It鈥檚 such a community atmosphere. Everyone watches out for each other and has each other鈥檚 backs.鈥�

Students at University of Colorado Boulder are flush with career opportunities. Clearly, the fantastic Career Services office ensures that these undergrads know how to compete in competitive job markets. Freshman start with the StrengthsQuest program, to learn how to better maximize their skillsets on campus and beyond. Then the Buffs Professional Program leads them through professional development activities to help them stand out to future employers. Throughout the academic year, the office sets up a number of information sessions. This allows students to both network and explore a variety of career paths. Aside from the usual internship and job searches, the office helps undergrads find research opportunities that align with their interests and passions. In fact, many students are involved with cutting edge research. Of course, undergrads who have their sights set on finding a job will be happy to discover that CU hosts numerous career fairs. Even better鈥攖hey are organized by industry. Therefore, students can attend events based around creative jobs, green jobs, finance jobs, and more.
