Located in the heart of the 鈥淕ator Nation,鈥� the University of Florida offers 鈥渙ne of the best educations in the nation.鈥� Students are proud that UF is 鈥渢he best state school in Florida鈥� and 鈥渙ne of the top public universities in the nation鈥�; they also love that it鈥檚 鈥渁 great school with a large alumni network,鈥� that there鈥檚 plenty of 鈥渋ntellectual stimulation鈥� to be found there, and that UF鈥檚 鈥渞esearch opportunities are abundant.鈥� Though the school has 鈥渟trong academic standards鈥� across the board, programs in Business and Journalism are particularly 鈥渉ighly ranked.鈥� Students say that the university鈥檚 size doesn鈥檛 sacrifice individuals鈥� ability to focus on their course of study: 鈥淐lasses for your major are hard, but they prepare you for more than easier classes would. They better prepare you for your career.鈥� Moreover, 鈥渁s a research university with nearly every graduate program imaginable, the opportunities are endless.鈥� Students praise the 鈥渢ruly incredible faculty and staff鈥� and appreciate that 鈥渙ne of the greatest strengths of UF is the fact there is always someone to turn to for help.鈥� Class structure is still impacted by the school鈥檚 size in that 鈥渓ectures are 80鈥�90 percent of class activities,鈥� but conversely, students love 鈥渉aving experts in my field teaching all of my classes for my major.鈥� If 鈥渂readth of opportunities鈥� for a value price is a priority for you, 鈥淭he Gator Nation is one where anyone can build a future for themselves.鈥�

While 鈥渆veryone is different,鈥� 鈥渇raternity and sorority participation...dominates the student culture.鈥� Students are 鈥渉ardworking and interested in getting ahead,鈥� and 鈥渆ven though UF is considered a party school, it is full of people who put their future careers first.鈥� 鈥淪tudents fit in by taking part in and participating in the various things our campus offers鈥� and are often 鈥渂usy and focused usually on one subject matter or area of interest to be involved in through extracurricular activities.鈥� Even though it鈥檚 a large campus, one student remarks on the sense of community: 鈥淲e鈥檙e students? I thought we were all part of one big family!鈥� They find each other 鈥渕ostly accepting and friendly,鈥� but as a whole 鈥渉ard to define. Gators are religious and non-religious, Greek and non-Greek, obsessed with athletics and some couldn鈥檛 care less.鈥� Overall, the typical UF student 鈥渒nows how to balance their school work and still have a good time.鈥�

Students with 鈥渢ons of school spirit鈥� will fit right in at the University of Florida, as 鈥渁 lot of UF culture is based around sports.鈥� There鈥檚 also a healthy share of party culture, with students stating that 鈥渂ars are the big scene鈥� in town and that 鈥渢here is a really intense nightlife,鈥� and noting that Greek life 鈥渋s a big deal in both the social and extracurricular scene.鈥� Those seeking other options will find them, however, as 鈥淭here is literally a club for everyone at UF鈥� as well as volunteer opportunities, like 鈥渁t the hospital located on campus.鈥� Ultimately, you 鈥渕ake it what you want. You can party every day or you can study every day.鈥�

Students widely feel that UF does a great job at preparing them for life after school, from the firstrate academics to the 鈥渆xcellent鈥� career services. The Career Connections Center offers an abundance of services, including academic advising and career planning, job fairs and recruiting events, resume critique and mock interviews, and resources for job and internship searches. Gator Shadow Day allows student to learn about careers by shadowing a professional at work. The Center also offers a program called Gator Launch to provide 鈥渦nderrepresented鈥� students in the science and technology fields with special mentoring opportunities.
