On the whole, Hawkeyes are 鈥渓aid-back,鈥� 鈥渇riendly, hardworking, and studious.鈥� The size and reputation of the school contribute to a diverse environment, including 鈥渁 strong LGBTQA presence on campus, [and] different religious places near campus.鈥� This 鈥渧ery social鈥� and inclusive community has 鈥渕any different organizations for minorities, religions, and everything else here on campus. I couldn鈥檛 imagine someone coming here and not being able to find a student organization that is for them.鈥� As one student puts it, 鈥淓veryone is unique and has a different story, but that鈥檚 one thing that makes life here so great. You have the ability to meet people from around the country and around the world, and we all get to share the experience of college together.鈥�

At this sports-loving Division I school, you鈥檒l feel the full force of Hawkeye spirit in the fall; students say that 鈥渄uring football season, Saturdays get crazy. There is just a sea of black and gold swarming toward the stadium. Nothing can really compare to 70,000 Hawkeye fans in one place.鈥� But even if football isn鈥檛 your thing or if it鈥檚 the off-season, the university provides plenty of events for students. 鈥淭here are always concerts and comedians on campus, many are even free to students. There are also free movies shown at the Iowa Memorial Union.鈥� With more than 600 student clubs and organizations to choose from, you can find anything from professional groups to social clubs to intramural sports that match your interests. For a more 鈥渟mall-college feel,鈥� students can choose to reside in one of 10 living-learning communities, connecting with others who share their major or interests. Students report that 鈥渢here is always a party going on here at Iowa,鈥� but there are also plenty of other options for fun. The recreation center frequently organizes trips 鈥渢o go rock-climbing, camping, hiking, or kayaking.鈥� For those who want to do something a little less strenuous, the 鈥渧ibrant downtown鈥� of Iowa City is 鈥渓iterally across the street from campus鈥� and is a popular destination with 鈥渦nique places to eat, shop, or go out.鈥� All in all, students agree that 鈥渓ife is pretty fun at The University of Iowa.鈥�
