At the University of Wyoming, students have access to 鈥渁 great education for a low, affordable cost.鈥� Many students say the school鈥檚 size is perfect: it鈥檚 big enough to have over 80 majors and 鈥渉igh-grade faculty鈥� to back them up, but still 鈥渟mall enough to be able to build meaningful relationships with other students and professors.鈥� UW 鈥渨orks hard to provide as many resources as possible,鈥� which can be seen in the 鈥渕any undergraduate research opportunities鈥� as well as 鈥済reat scholarships for studying abroad.鈥� Between 鈥済ood academic advisors鈥� and 鈥渁lways [available] tutoring help,鈥� there鈥檚 an appreciable feeling 鈥渢hat students come first.鈥� This means that teachers are 鈥渨illing to help you in any way you need,鈥� and so while they 鈥渄emand excellence,鈥� the overall learning environment is 鈥減leasant as well as challenging.鈥� Students 鈥渁ctually look forward鈥� to attending class and say that instructors are 鈥渧ery knowledgeable鈥� and lead 鈥渕eaningful discussions.鈥� Overall, professors do a good job 鈥減resenting the material clearly鈥� and making it 鈥渞eally interesting.鈥� If students need extra support, the professors are 鈥渁vailable for any questions鈥� and 鈥渁lways happy to talk to you.鈥�

Most students at the University of Wyoming are active and share a love for the outdoors. It鈥檚 a love that鈥檚 about both 鈥渉aving fun and enjoying the natural beauty of Wyoming鈥� and 鈥渁lso caring for and helping preserve the serene landscape.鈥� Nearly 60% of undergraduates are from Wyoming and many are from Colorado (though there are students from all 50 states and many countries), and their school pride unites them; everyone 鈥渓oves wearing their brown and gold.鈥� Under that banner is a 鈥渨ide variety of students,鈥� from those with a 鈥渄eeply ingrained love for cowboy culture鈥� to those who ride unicycles and play bagpipes. On the whole, people are 鈥渨arm-hearted individuals鈥� who are 鈥渧ery open-minded鈥� and 鈥渘on-judgmental,鈥� which means it鈥檚 鈥渆asy to make friends鈥� and 鈥渁 safe zone where students are able to express their thoughts and ideas.鈥� It鈥檚 a place where you can spot 鈥渢he passion that accompanies each major.鈥� Walking around campus, you鈥檒l see 鈥渟tudents stop and gather leaves on their walk to class, watch the wildlife, 鈥� or skip, sing and act on their way to class.鈥�

Students describe the school鈥檚 scenic location poetically, pointing to the 鈥渧ivid colors of the clear sky鈥� and noting that 鈥渟o much time is spent outside exploring鈥� through activities like hiking, mountain biking, skiing, camping, hunting, and fishing. As one student puts it, 鈥淚f it can be done outside, there are people here that will do it.鈥� Sports is also big, with games described as 鈥渁lways enjoyable to watch,鈥� so much so that it seems 鈥渆veryone in the state comes to support our teams.鈥� The school is 鈥渃onstantly bringing in musicians, comedians, magicians, and other performers.鈥� Students say the 鈥済ym and recreational center is top-notch,鈥� and the library is a popular spot where people work well into the night (as one student explains, 鈥淔ood and drinks are allowed in so people can get quite comfortable鈥�). When students have some downtime, they can go into Laramie, which offers an 鈥渁dorable downtown life鈥� alongside staples like theaters, 鈥渁 wide variety of restaurants,鈥� and 鈥渂ars and [clubs] for the occasional night out.鈥� As one student puts it, 鈥淭here is always something going on, whether on campus or off campus, as long as you鈥檙e willing to find it.鈥�
