Located just outside of Philadelphia, Ursinus College has done a remarkable job of building a 鈥渃lose-knit community鈥� dedicated to helping students succeed with strong academics and 鈥減lenty of opportunities for leadership involvement through clubs, student jobs, and internships.鈥� The 鈥渓iberal arts curricula [encourages undergrads] to explore different fields鈥� and potentially uncover new academic areas of interest. Even better, there鈥檚 a tremendous 鈥渇ocus on research.鈥� Students also rush to highlight the 鈥渟cience and pre-health prep program[s],鈥� duly noting Ursinus鈥檚 鈥渉igh medical school acceptance rate.鈥� Some of that success can likely be attributed to 鈥渟mall鈥� classes, which are a staple here. As one first-year student brags, 鈥淢y smallest class size is seven and my largest is twenty-one.鈥� She continues, 鈥淚 receive...[so much] attention that [it] makes it feel as though I have a seal team of PhDs looking out for me, and that is truly amazing.鈥� Indeed, professors here are 鈥渧ery supportive, intelligent, and passionate about the subjects they are teaching.鈥� And they work hard to make sure they鈥檙e accessible. As one student shares, 鈥淭heir office hours are incredibly flexible (at certain times and by appointment as well). I鈥檝e gone into some professors鈥� office hours three times a week for the entirety of the semester, I鈥檝e had professors come in on Sundays to help, and I鈥檝e been to their houses for dinner...I鈥檝e grown substantially...with their help.鈥�

Students at Ursinus speak enthusiastically about their classmates. Of course, it鈥檚 difficult to say something negative about people who 鈥渁re always smiling鈥� and 鈥渧ery welcoming.鈥� Undergrads do admit that the majority of their peers are 鈥渨hite [and] middle class鈥�: 鈥淲hile the college is homogeneous...in ethnic terms, it is ideologically very heterogeneous.鈥� As one undergrad explains, 鈥淚 have encountered many ideas and beliefs that have challenged my own...[which] I very much appreciate.鈥� Students also stress that their classmates are 鈥渉ardworking鈥� and 鈥渄own to earth.鈥� Moreover, as you might expect with college students, these undergrads also 鈥渢end to be curious.鈥� Indeed, 鈥淓veryone has something they really want to know more about.鈥� Interests and passions seem to run the gamut at Ursinus; you鈥檒l find everyone from 鈥渁thletes [and] bio nerds [to] theatre kids鈥� along with 鈥減rep[s and] hipsters.鈥� You 鈥渢ruly get a bit of everything here.鈥� Another happy student concludes, 鈥淯rsinus is a school where everyone fits in and you are encouraged to be yourself no matter how weird you may be. [It鈥檚 a place that] appreciates people with different backgrounds, interests, and abilities.鈥�

We鈥檝e been assured that 鈥渢here鈥檚 never a dull moment鈥� at Ursinus. After all, the college 鈥渙ffer[s] so many activities [with which] to get involved.鈥� Extracurricular clubs range from a 鈥減re-medicine help group...to a nerf club where [members] battle on the weekends in academic buildings.鈥� Community service is also pretty popular here too. For example, 鈥渙n Saturdays, groups of people will generally wake up and volunteer at the soup kitchen or go to the local nursing home and either visit or sing songs to them.鈥� Once the weekend rolls around, you can certainly find 鈥渁 lot of parties.鈥� Then again, that鈥檚 probably a given considering that 鈥渕any students are [involved] in Greek life.鈥� However, if you aren鈥檛 down for drinking, it鈥檚 not a problem. There 鈥渁re always people who will just hang out and watch movies or play silly board games.鈥� Students who love to laugh will be delighted to learn that Ursinus sponsors a number of 鈥渃omedy events,鈥� either 鈥渉osted by the UC improv club or...a guest comedian [brought in by the school.]鈥� Finally, the 鈥淐ampus Activities Board also puts on events multiple times a month that can be anything from trivia to Pinterest nights.鈥� It鈥檚 virtually impossible not to have fun here!
