Wheaton College, located just outside of Chicago, Illinois, is a great option for students who want a school with a 鈥減henomenal鈥� sense of community and 鈥渆xceptional liberal arts program.鈥� It鈥檚 also an evangelical institution and undergrads here value 鈥渢he college鈥檚 commitment to providing a rigorous academic experience through a Christian worldview.鈥� As one undergrad explains, 鈥淚 wanted to come to a school where my faith would be challenged and grown by those around me.鈥� Beyond religion, students love that class sizes are 鈥渞elatively small,鈥� which 鈥渕ake it easier to develop relationships with professors and peers.鈥� The classroom experience consists of 鈥渦niformly fantastic鈥� professors who care deeply and 鈥済enuinely want to know about their students鈥� lives.鈥� Another incredulous undergrad shares, 鈥淭hey invest time and energy into their students and all are always available for office hours or meals.鈥� Wheaton professors also actively look to 鈥渋nvolve students in research or mentoring.鈥� Just as crucial, they are 鈥渟uper knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the subject they teach.鈥� And they鈥檙e 鈥渁lways open to questions/challenges and at the same time are willing to challenge and encourage students in a way that maximizes learning.鈥� It is truly evident that Wheaton professors 鈥渨ant their students to succeed.鈥�

Unsurprisingly, undergrads at Wheaton are 鈥渦niformly Christian鈥� and 鈥渄evoted to serving Christ and His Kingdom.鈥� The student body is also 鈥減redominantly white鈥� though many individuals insist, 鈥渄iversity is a big part of the campus conversation.鈥� And you will find a variety of 鈥渂ackground[s], opinion[s], and interests around Wheaton.鈥� As one student interjects, 鈥淲heaton gets a bad rap for being really conservative, but that doesn鈥檛 mean there鈥檚 not a diversity of political and theological thought.鈥� What鈥檚 more, students say that their peers comprise of a 鈥渃aring group of individuals who have fun while living an upright lifestyle.鈥� The vast majority are also 鈥渉ardworking鈥� and 鈥渧ery, very driven.鈥� And they鈥檙e fairly worldly since a good number 鈥渉ave traveled to participate in some type of missions or humanitarian work.鈥� Wheaton undergrads are impressed by their fellow students鈥� intellect as well, reporting that they 鈥渁re exceptionally versatile, excelling in music, art, athletics, and oftentimes speaking multiple languages.鈥� Finally, another student praises, 鈥淚 am consistently blown away by the high intellectual capacity the students of Wheaton College possess, as well as their resolve to live selflessly, and use their education to create a better world.鈥�

It鈥檚 rather easy to lead a fun and fulfilling life at Wheaton. For starters, students have 鈥渃hapel services every other day during the week, with worship and guest speakers who are simply amazing.鈥� Many people also 鈥渓ike to attend events put on by Wheaton鈥檚 music conservatory.鈥� Additionally, the majority of students are rather 鈥渁ctive鈥� and a large number 鈥減articipat[e] in intramural sports.鈥� Even if sports aren鈥檛 your strong suit, the athletic program 鈥渆ncourages non-athletic people to get involved.鈥� Wheaton students are also quite adept at finding 鈥渃reative ways to have fun.鈥� For example, 鈥済eocaching鈥� is pretty popular. Once the weekend rolls around, lots of undergrads participate in 鈥済ame night,鈥� 鈥渕ovie night,鈥� or 鈥渃ollege events such as lip-syncing competitions or an interactive art festival.鈥� It鈥檚 also rather common for people to attend both 鈥渃hurch and brunch.鈥� Of course, when students want a break from campus life, they can easily 鈥渢ake the train to Chicago to enjoy the sights and the lights.鈥� A student concludes, 鈥淭here is never a dull moment here on campus, whether I鈥檓 studying or having fun with friends or attending special lectures, concerts, services, or just class. I love life at Wheaton!鈥�

Aided by the stellar Center for Vocation and Career, Wheaton College provides its students with 鈥済reat job preparation and connection building.鈥� As early as freshman year, the office helps undergrads explore their professional options and interests. Students can learn how to develop an elevator pitch for themselves, craft a killer cover letter, and sit for mock interviews. Moreover, the office hosts numerous events like Externship Day which connects current students with alumni they can shadow. There鈥檚 also a fantastic 鈥淪enior Series鈥� which prepares graduating students for life after Wheaton. The program includes panels on how to budget for the future, how to negotiate salaries, and how to decipher benefits packages.
