With a 鈥渇amily atmosphere and close-knit community,鈥� Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, is a fantastic option for students seeking a 鈥渞igorous鈥� liberal arts experience. It also helps that the 鈥渃ampus is beautiful鈥� and 鈥渢he facilities are clean and up to date.鈥� More impressively, undergrads here have the opportunity to 鈥渘etwork with highly influential people鈥� and participate in 鈥渁n outstanding study abroad program.鈥� And thanks to Wofford鈥檚 鈥渟mall鈥� size, students are truly able to receive 鈥渁n individualized education and personal attention.鈥� While coursework is 鈥渃hallenging,鈥� undergrads are appreciative, noting that their college 鈥渟pecializes in preparing students for graduate or professional school.鈥� For the most part, they also give their professors high marks. After all, Wofford instructors tend to be 鈥渆xtremely passionate about their fields and are very well educated.鈥� And they 鈥渇requently hold review sessions and are always available by email if they are not in their offices.鈥� Best of all, 鈥渆ach person, whether in the dining hall or the classroom, is there for your success. Knowing that we have these amazing adults there for us no matter what is something that allows us to thrive and become the best personal versions of ourselves.鈥�

Wofford undergrads are 鈥渒ind,鈥� 鈥渇riendly鈥� and often embody 鈥淪outhern hospitality.鈥� They tend to view their peers as 鈥渇amily鈥� rather than simply fellow students. And while people certainly 鈥渉ave friend groups that they commonly hang out with, [there are} no strict cliques like in high school.鈥� Just as critical, Wofford students are 鈥渉ardworking鈥� and 鈥渄riven鈥� and they 鈥渁ll take pride in their academic success.鈥� Undergrads do acknowledge, however, that the college is 鈥減redominantly white.鈥� Though they also insist 鈥渄iversity has increased.鈥� And a handful of individuals argue that Wofford yields 鈥渕any international students from various countries as well as American students from all across the country from all financial backgrounds.鈥� Regardless of where they come from, undergrads say it is very 鈥渆asy to connect with most other students鈥� and that everyone is 鈥渞espectful and kind toward one another.鈥� After all, it is 鈥渁 very open school and everyone says 鈥楬i鈥� because you鈥檝e most likely had a class with them before.鈥� One student points out, 鈥測ou may not know everyone鈥檚 name, but everyone has some common ground...no one feels left out.鈥�

At Wofford College, dull moments are few and far between. Sure, students 鈥渨ork hard during the week,鈥� but they also manage to carve out time for some fun. For example, many undergrads 鈥渟pend a lot of time at the gym, either working out, playing games, or participating in classes such as yoga or Afro beat.鈥� Students also 鈥渓ove to hang out at Burwell, our main cafeteria, and grab a bite to eat.鈥� Once the weekend hits, you will find lots of undergrads 鈥減laying sand volleyball and dancing at the Greek Village with their friends to the live bands.鈥� Indeed, the college maintains six fraternities, four sororities, two historically Black fraternities, and a multicultural house at the Greek Village and much of the social life revolves around them. However, there鈥檚 still plenty to enjoy if Greek life isn鈥檛 your scene. After all, Wofford sponsors a number of great events like 鈥渢rivia nights,鈥� 鈥渃ultural events鈥� and concerts. Further, outdoor enthusiasts will be thrilled to learn that there are 鈥渃ountless hiking trails near campus, including those at Glendale Shoals,鈥� where Wofford鈥檚 Goodall Environmental Studies Center with its vineyard garden and amphitheater is located. Lastly, though some individuals complain that the city of Spartanburg doesn鈥檛 offer much to do for fun, heading 鈥渙ff-campus鈥� for activities like 鈥渂owling, shopping, or movies are common.鈥�

For Wofford students to prepare for the future, they can easily turn to The Space, a career and entrepreneurial center that students call 鈥渢he real deal.鈥� More specifically, they call it an 鈥渋nvaluable resource for anything professional.鈥� The Space offers a unique twist on more traditional career centers: it provides the standard, expected workshops for r茅sum茅 writing and the like, but it also imparts advice on subjects such as how to start one鈥檚 own business. Importantly, The Space does a lot of outreach from day one, helping students develop their own path to employment. And that approach seems to be working: Recent Wofford grads have been hired by such firms as New York Life, Northwestern Mutual, UPS, Wells Fargo, and Lexington Medical Center.
