In addition to academics, students point to the professors at Xavier University as one of its 鈥済reatest strengths,鈥� noting that they鈥檙e 鈥渁lways available and very accessible鈥� and 鈥渁ctively interested in the learning, engagement, and success of their students.鈥� In particular, students value professors that 鈥渁sk me what I want to do post-grad and ask how they can help me get there, whether it be looking at my r茅sum茅, giving me a recommendation, or letting me know about job opportunities from their own network!鈥� Xavier supports a 鈥渉olistic approach to learning鈥� through foundational courses that focus on religion, liberal arts, rhetorical and quantitative reasoning, as well as cultural understanding. In addition, 鈥淴avier鈥檚 proximity to the city of Cincinnati is a huge perk, especially for those looking to enter in the sports industry, medical field, or corporate world.鈥� This access opens doors to real-world opportunities, with students completing 鈥渃linicals at some world-renowned hospitals like Cincinnati Medical Center and Cincinnati Children鈥檚鈥� and doing 鈥渞eal and meaningful work, like the marketing research courses that collaborate with the Cincinnati Reds.鈥� The business school鈥檚 highlights include networking events that encourage students to get 鈥渙ut there and talk to people,鈥� club events with company visits, and 鈥渋n-class opportunities to work with businesses and clients.鈥� This all deepens the 鈥渃ommunity between students, staff, and faculty allowing for connection, networking, and a sense of belonging.鈥�

As you might expect of those known as Musketeers, 鈥淲e all connect very strongly with our faith, and I think that really brings us together as a giant family.鈥� In general, Musketeers are 鈥渄riven, community-minded, and deeply purposeful. The student body is united by a shared belief that education is not just about personal success, but about service.鈥� Students are also 鈥渙utgoing, loving,鈥� and 鈥渒now how to have fun and do college, while being ethical and uplifting.鈥� As a result, students say things like 鈥淚 have loved all the peers I have met through Xavier鈥� and 鈥淚 would consider myself an introvert but quickly realized that there is someone here for everyone. The student body is absolutely wonderful and so uplifting to each other.鈥� Another student explains: 鈥淚 feel like since it鈥檚 a smaller university and because it鈥檚 a Jesuit institution, people here have a better sense of belonging and community.鈥� Even as they celebrate Xavier鈥檚 Jesuit background, Musketeers are quick to point out that 鈥渢he Center of Faith and Justice gives students of all religions a space to interact and participate in programs, clubs, and events.鈥� Overall, 鈥渆veryone is very dedicated to their education, and that motivates all of us together as a family.鈥�

鈥淏asketball season is king鈥� at XU. Musketeers, as students are known, love going to 鈥済ames at the Cintas Center. They are so fun and make you feel connected to the student body.鈥� A favorite student pastime is cheering 鈥渋n the comfort of a packed stadium with ten thousand fans that all feel like friends.鈥� Off the court, 鈥渢here is tons to do on campus and in Cincinnati,鈥� and students enjoy putting their Jesuit values into play by being of service to those around them. 鈥淴avier is very intentional about providing service opportunities for their students to make a positive impact on their community, and most students are super into this.鈥� One Musketeer says, 鈥淚 love the service club called X-Change. It is a weekly commitment, and I have made many friends through it.鈥� Similarly, one member of a healthcare club enjoys it 鈥渂ecause many students are motivated not only by career goals鈥�but also by a desire to make a meaningful impact beyond themselves.鈥� Summing up the extracurriculars on offer, one student says: 鈥淎ll these experiences brought me joy, taught me important life lessons, or increased my knowledge of the campus and community.鈥�
